Phil Baroni, former UFC fighter was arrested in San Francisco, Mexico for allegedly murdering his girlfriend. Reportedly, the murder happened after the couple had an argument.
According to reports, Baroni was drunk and supposedly used drugs during his argument with his girlfriend. Reports claim that the couple argued over her cheating with Baroni which led him to the murder. The incident took place in a hotel in San Pancho.
Baroni had allegedly beaten her and thrown her into the shower which was supposed to be the cause of her death.
The 45-year-old Baroni approached the police officers outside and informed them that his girlfriend was not responding. When the police entered the hotel room they discovered a dead woman.
According to reports, Baroni himself called the police to his hotel room. The former UFC fighter admitted to the police that he was taking in marihuana and alcohol in his hotel room in the afternoon when his girlfriend confessed to having another affair. This made the couple into an argument.
Following their discussion, Baroni urged his girlfriend to go and take a shower in the restroom. The kickboxer grabbed the woman up and threw her into the shower hitting her in the head after she refused to do so. She then dropped to the ground, striking her head again in the ground.
According to Baroni, he helped her to get into her feet after the incident and he placed her on the bed. The woman eventually asked for alcohol and cigarettes.
To buy these, the man went outside and when he came back, he discovered the woman had passed away. He claimed that in his efforts to wake her up. And thus he reported the death to the police right away.
The woman was discovered by the police, naked in bed and covered with a sheet when they entered the room as Baroni called. On her face and body, the officers saw bruising. The Criminal Investigation Agency and Expert Services are currently looking into the situation.
The local authority in San Pancho reported the incident to the Public Ministry, which is now looking into it and could potentially bring a murder prosecution against Baroni. Baron has been detained at Juzgado Municipal Administrativo de Valle Banderas since his arrest.
Due to his action-packed fighting style and aggressive attitude, Baroni is also known as the “New York Bad Ass.” He was a fan favorite during his time in UFC because of his incredible styles and talent.
Baroni made his professional debut at UFC 30 in February 2001. He was one of the UFCs original members. During his two employment periods with the business, he fought twelve times, going 3-7 overall. With a record of 16-19, Baroni’s professional mixed martial arts came to an end in 2019.
He has been an MMA professional player since 2000. He has represented the organizations such as the UFC, PRIDE, Strikeforce, Cage Rage, DREAM, EliteXC, Bellator MMA, BKFC, and ONE FC.
Before coming into the career of a professional fighter, Baroni has done many other jobs such as construction, salesman, delivery boy, and even bouncing.
Baroni played certain roles in several independent movies with credits “Ma in Club” and “Weightlifter2.”
In his childhood, Baroni was a prominent member of the school’s wrestling team. In the meantime, he used to have street fights in the places where he used to live.
From the age of 17 to 20, he participated in six amateur bodybuilding competitions, winning or placing in the second position. During his time studying under Keith Trimple, he earned seven knockout victories in kickboxing matches.

After joining the American Kickboxing Academy, Baroni was managed by Bob Cook and DeWayne Zinkin of Zinkin Entertainment and Sports Management. Previously, Baroni was represented by sports agent Ken Pavia.
As a former UFC fighter who transitioned to professional wrestling, along with other UFC luminaries like Kamal Shalorus and UFC Hall of Famers Stephen Bonnar and Dan Severn, Baroni is now handled by pro-MMA fighter and professional wrestler Matt Grahan’s The Granimal American Combat Association.
He rose to fame in the sport in the early 2000s and for a while, he was seen as a title contender.
Jonathan Koppenhaver, popularly known as War Machine, was arrested in August 2014 for murdering his partner. He was given a life sentence with parole in 36 years.
Despite the seriousness of the crime Jonathan committed, Baroni continued to publicly back his former teammate. He apparently paid Jonathan a visit while he was in the prison. He used his popularity to get him released from prison but it was a failure though. Throughout the trial, Phil Baroni also made a point to stand up for Jonathan.
People are hoping Brian will be getting the punishment that Jonathan got if he really committed the crime.
