Josh Hawley is an American politician. He currently serves as the United States Senator from the state of Missouri. Hawley is also a lawyer and used to practice law before beginning his career as a politician.
Hawley had been working in the position of Senator from 2019 and before that, from 2017 to 2019, he served as the 42nd attorney general of Missouri. As he was a law student and had experience as a lawyer, Hawley also used to work as an associate professor at the University of Missouri School of Law.
According to an interview he had with NBC News, the Senator is currently concentrating his powers to work on policies to protect children and keep their mental health and safety guarded against the online world.
Hawley believes that big tech companies give importance to their revenue and profit rather than protecting children.
He believes and hopes to implement different restrictions like keeping an age limit of 16 to use social media, giving the parents the right to demand tech companies to delete the data of their kids, and such so that the new generation grows up with steady mental health and better, confidence and safety.
Josh Hawley – Early Life
Even though Josh Hawley currently serves as the Senator from Missouri, he was born in Springdale, Arkansas on December 31, 1979.
While his father Ronal Hawley worked as a banker, his mother Virginia Hawley was a teacher. It was his father’s job that made the family move to Lexington, Missouri, where Josh Hawley would spend most of his early years.
After moving to Missouri, Hawley attended Rockhurst High School. Upon completing his high school education, Hawley enrolled at Stanford University, where he took up history and earned his bachelor’s degree.
After completing his studies and earning his bachelor’s degree with high honors, Hawley decided to take up the job of a teacher. He spent his time from 2002 to 2003 at St Paul’s School in London, where he worked as a teacher.
Later, Hawley retired to the United States. This time, rather than finding another job, Hawley decided to take his studies further and enrolled at Yale Law School. Hawley completed his studies in 2006 with a Juris Doctor degree.

As he was a law school graduate, Hawley explored the legal field as a career choice before entering the world of politics. Josh Hawley started his professional career as a judicial clerk after completing his law school education.
He worked for judges like Michael W. McConnell of the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit and Chief Justice John Roberts of the United States Supreme Court. It was during his time as a law clerk that Hawley met his future wife.
After he was done as a law clerk, Hawley worked with a private law firm called Hogan & Hartson, which is now called Hogan Lovells. He worked at the firm for almost three years, from 2008 to 2011.
For a brief time, Hawley returned to his alma mater, the University of Missouri School of Law, where he worked as an associate professor. Hawley also worked in association with the Becket Fund for Religious Liberty and was also a faculty member of the Blackstone Legal Fellowship.

Josh Hawley ran for Attorney General of Missouri in 2016. Hawley defeated Kurt Schaefer, a former Republican member of the Missouri senate for a 64% vote in the primary election on August 2.
In the general election, Hawley was opposed by the Democratic member Teresa Hensley, whom he defeated with a 58.8% vote. After winning the election, Hawley served in the position of Attorney General of Missouri for almost two years, from a time period from 2017 to 2019.

It was in October 2017 that Josh Hawley announced his candidacy for Missouri’s U.S. Senate election as a Republican candidate.
Hawley had to face 11 other Republicans in the primary elections where he was much supported by most of the senior Republican leaders, including Donald Trump. Hawley had a huge win in the primary elections and he was endorsed by Donald Trump in November 2017.
For the general elections, Josh Howley was up against the Democratic candidate Clair McCaskill. The result of the election was finally declared in November 2018 which showed that Hawley defeated McCaskill with a 51% to 46% vote share. Josh Hawley was sworn in as the United States Senator on January 3, 2019.
Josh Hawley was one of the most notable politicians who were against the 2020 presidential elections which declared Democratic candidate Joe Biden as the winner. He was the first senator to object to the Senate’s certification of the electoral college vote count.
Hawley also found himself in a controversy for reportedly saluting the pro-Trump rioters outside the United States Capitol building on January 6, 2021, where the congress met together to count the electoral votes of the 2020 election.
Photographs of Hawley saluting the protesters who were responsible for the attack on the Capitol hours later became a serious issue of criticism for the politician.

Josh Hawley is a married man. He is married to Erin Morrow who is currently working at the University of Missouri as an associate professor of law.
Hawley and Marrow met for the first time while he used to work as a law clerk for Chief Justice John Roberts.
Erin Marrow was also a clerk who worked for Roberts. She also completed her law degree from Yale Law School, just like Hawley. The couple has three children together and is said to lead a very happy life together.

Amidst his busy career as a lawyer and a politician, Hawley also released three publications, The first one was in 2008 and was titled ‘Theodore Roosevelt, Preacher of Righteousness.’
