Kamala Harris, the Vice President of the United States made an unannounced visit with the expelled Tennessee lawmakers.
Justin Jones former Democratic rep from Nashville and Justin Pearson former Democratic rep from Memphis are the lawyers who faced expulsion from the Tennessee state legislature. These lawyers are now being referred to as Tennessee Three.
The black lawyers were expelled on Thursday. Their expulsion was decided through a vote by the Republicans. The reason was that both of them gave leadership to a gun control protest which took place on March 30.
The allegation the lawyers had to face was that they halted court proceedings and joined the public chant which was “power to the people”.
A third lawyer, Gloria Johnson, the rep from Knoxville also supported the anti-gun protest. Johnson,s name was also in the vote to be expelled, and she ducked the expulsion by just one vote.
The expelled lawyers happen to be black and Johnson happens to be white. The expulsion took place in the vote conducted by the Tennessee House Republicans. Justin Jones was removed from the legislature on a 72 – 25 vote and Justin Pearson was removed on a 69 – 26 vote.
Kamla Harris said that the visit was not about those three leaders, rather it was about what they were representing. She added that it was about whose vices they were channeling.
Harris then questioned how such actions could be viewed as happening in a democratic nation. She was taking on an event at Fisk University in Nashville, Tennessee.
At the university, a gathering was happening that intended to support the expelled lawmakers and Tennessee Three were present there. The gathering was attended by many community leaders.
After her speech, she met with the lawyers and personally talked with them. Then she proceeded to meet with other Tennessee Democratic lawmakers and also with the Mayor of Nashville, John Cooper.
She made the unexpected visit to Nashville and glorified what the lawyers had done.
The three lawyers strongly supported the anti-gun protest which was following a mass shooting that took place at a private Christian school in Nashville. The firing had taken the lives of six people.
She started her speech by recognizing Tennessee Three. The speech was about the expulsion of the two black Democrats from the Tennessee legislature. She was in support of the former Reps Justin Pearson and Justin Jones.
Harris viewed that the act was not part of democracy. She backed up her statement by saying that if it was a democracy, people won’t be silenced or stifled, and the microphones of the people won’t be turned off when they were speaking about the importance of life and liberty.
She also appreciated the youth of the nation who actively participated in the protest. She called out to the young people to come forward and take leadership in the persisting issue. Harris had a small talk with Col. Ted Geasley when she arrived at the Berry Field Air National Guard Base.
Joe Biden, the current president of the United States of America had already spoken to the lawyers on a conference call before the surprise visit of Kamala Harris.
As per the information released by the White House regarding the call, the President thanked the three lawyers for the leadership that they showed in seeking to ban assault weapons and for standing up for the values of the democratic party.
The release added that the lawyers were also invited by the president to the White House. The lawyers, about their expulsion, commented that they said they wanted a ban on assault weapons.

Tennessee Three Expulsion
Biden was shocked by the expulsion and he viewed it as undemocratic and unprecedented. He condemned the Republican lawmakers by saying that they chose to punish, silence, and expel the duly elected reps of the people of Tennessee when they could have debated the merits of gun control.
Cameron Sexton, the Republican House speaker actually had framed the two expelled democrats as national heroes by removing them from their positions and from the power that they had.
The House viewed that the three lawmakers had breached the decorum and the floor rules that have to be followed when speaking on the House floor during the protest event that took place on the House Podium.
The expulsion news is topping the national dailies and news channels as it deals with the two most controversial issues in current America. One is racism which is relevant as the expelled lawyers are of the black race and the second is anti-gun protests.
This is relevant as recently the nation has seen many open fires that have hurt and taken the life of multiple innocent people. Gun control protests are happening all over the nation as attacks are increasing on public roads and even in primary schools where toddlers and juniors are murdered mercilessly.
