George Anthony Devolder Santos is a native of Brazil. He was born in 1988 and is 34 years old.
Santos has a high school equivalency diploma.
He worked as a customer service employee at a call center for Dish Network Corporation in the working-class neighborhood of College Point in Queens.
George Santos is an elected member of the U.S. House of Representatives.
He represents NY-03, the third Congressional district of New York, which is the wealthiest congressional district in New York and one of the wealthiest districts in the whole of the United States of America.
He assumed office on the 3rd of January 2023. Before Santos, the third district was represented by Tom Suozzi, a fellow Democrat. He was in the office from the year 2017
He is the first ever politician having a Brazilian-American lineage who got elected to the U.S. Congress.
The political interests of Santos are invested in the Republican party. He also is deemed as the first openly gay non-incumbent Republican who is an elected representative of the U.S. Congress.
He had earlier taken a female partner in marriage in 2012. In 2019 he and his former wife Uadla Santos Vieira Santos got divorced.

George Santos: Controversial Claims
Santos has made a number of claims about his family history, parents, education, descent, ancestry, job history, and property possession.
He claims to have dual citizenship in both Brazil and Belgium as his previous generations were from Belgium.
As per the records his ancestors of several generations back were from Belgium who then illegally immigrated to America to pursue the American Dream. Although his parents, and to a minimum of three generations before them had been born and lived in Brazil.
Santos has made an earlier claim that his maternal great-grandfather was born and raised in Belgium and there is no data to prove this. He has made a claim that his grandparents from his mother’s side were from Ukraine.
He has said that these ancestors were Jews of descent and that they were the survivors of the Holocaust, the brutal genocide during the reign of Nazi Germany during World War II.
He shared that his ancestors somehow managed to escape to Belgium and from there, they moved to Brazil. He has also said of himself as having Angolan heritage through his father.
George Santos has made claims about his higher and college education although they were not backed up by any of the colleges or universities that he mentioned.
According to him, he has a Bachelor’s Degree in economics and finance from Baruch College, New York City. The years that he mentioned as a student of the college overlap with that the time he spent in Brazil after the high school equivalency diploma.
Santos has also made a claim that he has a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from NYU (New York University). NYU denied the claim by reporting that they have no record of his attendance or admission.
Santos in 2022 revealed that he never attended college nor have any graduate degrees by agreeing that he had made false claims and lied about his academic background.
About his birth mother, he claimed that she was the first female executive at a major financial institution and that she was an employee in the South Tower of the WTC (World Trade Center) and was one of the few fortunate survivors of the tragic 9/11 incident.

As per the records she is mentioned as a home care nurse or domestic nurse. There was a check fraud charge in his name back in 2008 in Brazil, in which he was guilty of stealing a checkbook and issuing scam checks from a man who was taken care of by Santos’s mom.
The authorities of Brazil stated that he never responded to the court summons and the case is still unresolved.
While recalling his family history and older days he said that he belonged to a rich and wealthy family and had led a luxurious lifestyle.
He claimed that he inherited the business empire from his family who had owned it for generations.
In contrast, the church revealed that his family did not have money for the funeral procedures of his mother who passed away in 2016 and that the money was raised by a memorial of believers.
He had claimed multiple times that his family was wealthy and even listed a number of properties they owned in both Brazil and America. As per the claimed listing the family possessed 13 rental luxury properties in New York City alone.
This was mentioned in his 2022 Congressional Campaign. It became a topic of the headline discussion when these properties did not make it to the financial disclosure form mandatory for the campaign or in other public records.
