Senator Mitch McConnell spoke out against Fox News host Tucker Carlson, which brought the Twitter CEO face to face with the Senator.
Mitch McConnell, the Senate Minority Leader, in a media exchange on Tuesday said that he wants to associate himself entirely with the opinion of the chief of the Capitol Police about what took place on January 6, also known as the Jan 6 Capitol event; in relation to the presentation that appeared on Fox News.
It was on the 6th of Jan in 2021, a violet mob attacked the United States Capitol Building in Washington, D.C., following the presidential election victory of the now-President Joe Biden. The crowd identified as the allies and supporters of the opposition candidate and the former U.S. President Donald Trump.
Carlson’s video made it seem that what the people had known about the events that took place on the day were lies provided by the previous House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and fellow Democrat.
The Fox media host got his hands on the video clips as it was given to him by Kevin McCarthy, the current speaker of the House and fellow Republican.
McCarthy said that he did so to ensure transparency and supported the acts of Carlson. He was asked by one of the reporters whether he regrets the decision he made to give the TV hoist the footage of the video.
The speaker was in support of the clips that Tucker Carlson aired on his program and said that now the civilians have a chance to watch the videos and make up their minds for themselves on what happened on the day.
He further said that each person could arrive at their conclusion, and he opined that it was the only way to make it transparent for the people of America and the global citizens.
Carlson on releasing the videos said that he and his team looked at the many thousand hours of the video and what was being released was their findings of the events.
He was talking about a video that showed video clips of the Jan 6 U.S. Capitol event.
Elon Musk, the billionaire businessman who owns Twitter, thought that Senator McConnell was having an unmatching opinion from that of the Republican Party, the party that he represents.
Musk sarcastically quoted that the Senator’s comments were making him forget the party McConnell belongs to.
The U.S. Capitol Police chief on Tuesday issued a memo to the staff after Tucker Carlson aired security footage that had never been released before.
The video footage showed the police officers not doing anything to prevent the furious crowd that entered the Capitol on January 6.
The senior investigative reporter for ABC News, Katherine Faulders on her official Twitter account, tweeted the photo of the memo on.
The caption of the post read that Capitol Police Chief Thomas Manger sent an internal memo in which he said that Carlson’s report was filled with misleading and offensive conclusions about the Jan 6 incident.
It further read that the television program which was the opinion of the host did not succeed in reaching out with appropriate context.
What Were The Contents Of The Memo By U.S. Capitol Police Chief Thomas Manger?
The memo, in the beginning, read that, an opinion program was aired last night which was filled with offensive and misleading conclusions about the January 6 attack; and that the opinion program never reached out to the Department to get an accurate context.
The report continued that one false allegation in the report was that the officers of the department had helped the rioters and acted as their tour guides. This specific finding was mentioned as outrageous and false by the Chief in the memo.
The Chief was clear that the officers would never do something like that and that the report was completely and utterly false.
He said that his department has made the decision to stand by and support the officers who were seen in the video footage.
He continued that there was no need to remind the staff that the officers were heavily outnumbered on Jan 6. He acknowledged the efforts of the police force, saying that the officers did their best to use de-escalation tactics to try to talk rioters into getting each other to leave the building.
Chief Thomas Manger accused that, the video was an attempt to manipulate the audience as it had only portrayed a small period of the entire thing. His accusation was that the video conveniently cherry-picked the most non-reactive and calm moments of an incident that went on for 41,000 hours.
Manger added that the most unacceptable thing about the news report was its denial of the sacrifice made by the late officer Brain Sicknick. He was injured and passed away while working to control the outraged crowd.

However, as per the news report, it was quoted that officer Sicknick nor his death had anything to do with the Jan 6 incident. It was reported that the later officer lost his life when he was serving in the uniform, and the department has cited it as a heroic death, and he was paid with all due respects.
As per the data maintained by the department, it says that officer Brain Sicknick fought valiantly for hours and he was made the victim of violent assaults on the same day. It also says he would not have died the very next day if he had not been assaulted.
He addressed his fellow officers and said that they were living proof of what exactly took place on Jan 6. He separately mentioned the officers on the basis of the duties that they were entrusted with.
They were the ones who were in the forefront preventing the marching in of the crowds, the ones who supported the forefront officers, the ones who had to take care of the Members of the Congress from being attacked, and everyone who was part of and contributed to the force.
The Chief pressed the fact from the total 41,000 hours of the video only selected portions have been selected by the host which was a transparent fabrication that gives the viewers a wrong notion of what really did take place on a tragic day.
Thomas Manger recognized the effort of each of the police officers by writing that they fought hard on Jan 6 and risked their lives to protect the Constitution, to not let the Legislative process of the nation to cease, and everything that the nation holds.
He added that each of his fellow officers and the law enforcement partners was to be credited for the rescue of each of the members of the Congress and their staff.
The memo ended by stating that it was the Justice System that would record the truth for the history books and not the TV commentary. He reminded everyone that truth and justice were on the side of the officers.
