As per the latest information, multiple fatalities had been reported in a shooting that took place at a Virginia Walmart, located at 1521 Sam’s Circle.
Leo Kosinski, who is the public information officer of the Chesapeake Police Department told our sources that the police have responded to the event and that further proceedings are underway.
He also added that the officers have entered the crime scene, which was the store, and that they have also confirmed the shooting upon finding several dead bodies and injured people inside the store. As per the statement from the concerned police officers, the gunman who was responsible for multiple casualties is also believed to be dead.
Even though there had been no official confirmation from the side of the police about the man who opened fire, there are reports that claim that the gunman was actually the manager of the store.
According to reports from different sites, a Walmart employee who was in the store at that time described the events that happened through his social media account.
From his description of the event, it is to be inferred that it was one of the managers that shot the people inside the store. Even though the statement said it was the manager, nothing about the reason behind the shooting or any particular event that led to the shooting was not mentioned by the employee.
To quote his statement regarding the shooter and the event, the employee added that “He blew his brains out and everything. He killed the girl in there and everything. He came in and started spraying. I’m sorry for the victims.”
From the statement of the employee, it can be easily understood that the situation has really shaken him, and the events that took place inside the store at that time we gruesome and cruel.
The employee who was inside the store at the time of the event added that it was just when he left the break room that the manager came in and he started capping people up in there and then he started shooting them. He also admitted to losing some of his associates during the tragic incident that took place inside the store.
The police responded to the shooting in the store around 10:12 pm local time and upon their arrival, they found multiple dead bodies and also the dead body of the gunman who was responsible for the shooting. There were around 40 emergency vehicles that arrived at the crime scene for assistance. From the number of emergency vehicles, the range of the incident can be inferred to be massive.
Even though there had been no confirmation about the number of casualties from the incident, a statement was rumored to be released by a police officer which said that the number of casualties was not more than ten. A body was also found near the entrance of the store, where the tragic event took place.
The police also dismissed the chance of having multiple shooters as the reports made it clear that there was only a single shooter present. As it is a developing story, only a few pieces of information are available as of now.
