She is a multi-talented star of Uganda who has proved her incredible talent in music, dancing, and acting. She began her career in the entertainment industry as a backup dancer and a karaoke. Now she reached the top position becoming one of the international stars in Uganda.

Sheebah Karungi’s Early Life And Education
Samalie Njagala Karungi popularly known as Sheebah Karungi or Queen Sheebah was born as the daughter of Edith Kabazungu and the late Mzee Ahamada Kimali Musoke. She was born on 11 November 1989 in Kawempe, Kampala.
She dropped out of school in senior two while a student at Kawempe’s Midland High School after finishing her elementary education at the Kawempe Muslim Primary School. At the age of 15, she began performing for money after joining the dance group Stingers.
In 2006, she left the group to join Obsessions Music Group. She discovered a passion for music while she was a member of Obsessions. While in the group, she recorded two songs before leaving them to pursue a solo music career.
Sheebah Karungi’s Musical Career
Sheebah intended to dance and make money after joining the band Obsessions, but things didn’t turn out the way she had hoped. Her aim of making money from dance evolved into being a musician. Thus she left the band and started her solo career, where she earned more than expected.
“Kunyenyenza,” produced by Washington and penned by Cindy was Sheebah’s debut single in 2010. Sheebah rose to fame following the release of her song “Automatic,” which was written by Sizzaman. This marked a significant turning point in Sheebah’s career.
After “Automatic” became a hit, she released her first album of music, Ice Cream, in 2014. It was a five-track EP with hit singles like Ice Cream, which was on the airwaves in 2014. This song became Sheebah’s breakout single.
According to Sheebah, entering the music industry is difficult, and one must put in a lot of effort to do it. Sheebah advised young artists, telling them to keep trying to put in the effort and to have a lot of confidence in themselves.
Sheebah also shared that when she first began out in music, everyone thought she was a joker, and even her closest friends and role models didn’t think she could make it. She added that the key to success is perseverance, hard work, faith, and self-confidence despite any adverse circumstances.

Sheebah Karungi’s Life Outside Music
Sheebah has a successful business career in addition to her music career. Sheebah By Natna Hair, a new hair extension business, was introduced in March 2018 at The Prism, shortly after Sheebah Collections, her apparel collection was introduced.
Sheebah, who has always identified as a feminist, came up with a fantastic concept to support the female gender four years ago just for the sake of diversification. She has started producing ‘Holic Pads’ to support women through her news firm ‘Sheebah Establishment Company.’
Apart from the music industry, Sheebah has acted in a movie in 2016. In the film titled “Queen of Katwe,” Sheebah appeared in the role of Shakira. It was her debut acting career.
Sheebah Karungi Awards And Nominations
Sheebah’s successful journey in the entertainment industry has enabled her to achieve various awards and nominations as a recognition for her hard work and effort.
In 2018, she was awarded the Uganda Music Award for the Female Artist of the year followed by the nomination in Abryanz styles and fashion awards for the Fashionable music video of the Year.
In 2017 she was awarded Zzina Awards in three different categories. In 2016 and 2015 she was nominated in several categories of awards in the 4th HiPipo Music Awards and Uganda Entertainment Awards.

Sheebah Karungi Controversies
Even though Sheebah Karungi has been present in the entertainment industry for more than ten years, she has rarely been in controversies.
In 2018, Sheebah was warned by Uganda’s pornographic control committee for her indecent dressing. This was followed by her declaration to women to go braless through her Free the Nipple movement.
Sheebah Karungi posted a video of herself incensed disclosing how a certain individual who has armed security harassed her before a performance.
Sheebah describes how a man misbehaved in front of her team before she entered the stage for one of her performances in the video.
