Known as “The Golden Jet” Bobby Hull was the highest-scoring left wing in the history of the NHL. Hull can be introduced as the most potent former member of the Chicago Blackhawks and the Winnipeg Jets of WHA- World Hockey Association.
Briefly put, Bobby Hull is a Canadian professional ice hockey player dubbed the best Hockey player of all time.
His admirers call him The Golden Jet considering his skating speed, high-velocity shot, end-to-end rushes as well as his blonde hair. Shadowing him was contemplated to be the hardest task that the opposite team had to decide first.
During the 23 years of his career, Bobby Hull played for Hartford Whalers, and Winnipeg Jets other than Chicago Blackhawks. Over the 2 decades, he has bagged several honors including the Hart Memorial Trophy twice, Art Ross Trophy thrice and Lady Byng Memorial Trophy once.
However, the game is over for the world’s best Hockey player as the Hall of Famer Bobby Hull passed away at 84 on Jan. 30, 2023.
He was undeniably at the peak of success when he led Blackhawks to win the Stanley Cup in 1961.

Robert Marvin Hull, professionally called Bobby Hull, was born to Robert Edward and Lena Cook on Jan. 3, 1939, in Pointe Anne, Ontario. Ever since he was a child, Hull had a special craze for Hockey and he played minor hockey in Belleville, Ontario.
Further, he went to play Junior B hockey in 1954 as a member of Woodstock Warriors. Eventually, the team won the Sutherland Cup in 1955 under the leadership of Hull, which gained him more traction.
No wonder why Bobby Hull was selected by the giant Chicago Blackhawks. But before landing there, he had also played for Ontario Hockey Association and St. Catherines Teepees.
Bobby Hull’s Career In NHL
Luckily, Bobby Hull had an impressive start in shu debut year wearing the numbers 16 and 7 for the Chicago Blackhawks where he finished second in the Calder Memorial Trophy.
Later, he switched to 9, which became Hull’s identity. The number was chosen in admiration of his childhood inspiration Gordie Howe.
Shortly after, Hull led the team to victory scoring his first Art Ross Trophy. Further, he received more of them in the seasons 1961-62 and 1965-66. In 1961, Bobby Hull gave a hundred and dragged Blackhawks to victory, bagging the Stanley Cup.
In 1966, Hull outshined Bernie Geoffrion and Maurice Richard by scoring more than 50 goals in a single season. He was paid back by a 7-minute standing ovation on his 51st goal. However, he completed 54 goals in that season, which perplexed the entire Chicago stadium.
Soon after, he dethroned Dickie Moore by earning 97 points, one more than the record set by Moore. In 1968-69, Hull broke his w record with 58 goals and earned 107 points.
He was ultimately voted ten times as the First-Team-All-Star left winger and twice as the Second-Team All-Star left winger.
Bobby Hull’s Life After Retirement
Slowed by age, Bobby Hull retired from NHL and WHA after playing 1.063 NHL games and 411 WHA games. In 1978, Bobby Hull went on to serve as an officer at the Order of Canada.
After Hull’s retirement, his iconic number 9 jersey was also retired but it was unretired for Hull’s son Brett Hull when he joined the Jets’ and Blackhawks’ successor team, the Arizona Coyotes. Later, the jersey was worn by player Evander Kane with the permission of Bobby Hull.
In 2003, he was made the figurehead commissioner at WHA, and in the 2021-22 season, Hull was the ambassador of the Blackhawks until when the organization notified him that he will retire from all of his official duties that year.

Bobby Hull’s Death
Bobby Hull, the record breaker and the Hall of Famer, breathed his last on Jan. 30, 2023, at the age of 84. The Blackhawks announced the demise on Monday and the NHL Alumni Association was also among the hundreds who paid tribute to the soul.
The Blackhawks expressed their deepest sympathy to Hull’s dear and near fans and recalled Hull’s shooting prowess, and skating skill, that was adored by his fans.
There has been no player who has ever played better than Bobby Hull and the world knows it better. His leadership has led to 604 career goals, a record that is valid today. The National Hockey Association will certainly miss Hull’s guidance, especially the Blackhawks.
