According to the media reports, all six victims were employers of Walmart.

The city has identified the suspect as 31-year-old Andre Bing, who took his own life after taking those six innocent lives.

The city of Chesapeake had reported that the suspect was armed with one handgun which he used to shoot the victims.

Additionally, five people were injured in the attack; on Wednesday night, one was discharged from Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.

According to Norfolk, Virginia’s 13 News, two people remain in critical condition.

The Chesapeake shooting takes place a week after a gun incident in an LGBTQ club in Colorado that left five people dead.

The authorities reported that the mass killing began shortly after 10 pm on Tuesday when Americans celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday.

According to the witnesses, the shooting started in the back of the store, and at least five people were taken to the hospital immediately.

The police said that they are looking more into the suspect’s background so that they could get any information regarding the motive behind the mass killing.

Louise Lucas, Virginia State Senator who represents the Chesapeake region said that she was shocked and heartbroken that this tragic incident took place in her district.

“I will not rest until we find a solution to end this gun violence in our country that has taken so many lives.” Louise Lucas tweeted on her official account.

In recent days, America is witnessing more and more gun violence in many regions which the authorities are trying to solve by giving their maximum. But the incidents kept happening in many places which makes the people in an ambiguous situation.

Congressman Bobby Scott of Virginia tweeted: “Tragically, our community is suffering from yet another incident of senseless gun violence just as families are gathering for Thanksgiving”

The whole country was shocked hearing such incidents in the past few days.

Three nights before the Walmart incident, a gunman in Colorado’s Rocky Mountain West opened fire inside an LGBTQ nightclub, killing five people and injuring at least 18. The police have investigated this case and came to the conclusion that this is a possible hate crime.

According to the authorities, the suspect, a 22-year-old had used a long rifle at the club where the people were celebrating Transgender’s day of remembering, which honors the trans persons who have been violently attacked.

A few days back, a 22-year-old student at the University of Virginia opened fire at other students while on a bus coming back from a field trip to Washington and killed three fellow students.

All this violence represents yet another mass shooting in places such as hospitals, schools, or stores that people consider safe.

The Tuesday incident at Chesapeake also brought back the memories of another Walmart incident in 2019, when a gunman opened fire at a store in El Paso, Texas, killing about 22 people.

According to the website of the Gun Violence Archive, there have been more than 600 mass shootings in the United States so far in 2022.

The people in the US are sickened by this gunshot violence and everyone is praying for those who are impacted because of these incidents.
