On the 80th Golden Globes, the House of the Dragon bagged the award for the best television drama series dethroning Ozark, Better Call Saul, Severance, and The Crown on Tuesday night.
The honor was proudly accepted by the director of the series Miguel Sapochnik and he immediately asked the stars Milly Allcock and Emma D’Arcy to join him on the stage. While they took over the attention, he further pumped the audience to give the young stars a round of applause.
Sapochnik made the crowd laugh when he pointed out that he was underdressed for the occasion as his suit was missing a tie. But he explained saying he didn’t know they were about to win the award and asserted that was the reason why he didn’t think of getting dressed up.
In the middle of the speech, the 48-year-old director praised one of the nominees Severance for being awesome. He admitted that he loved it and if he had known then he would have made House of the Dragon that way. But added that it would have been a bit weird if he had done so.
Sapochnik, who was the director and producer of Game of Thrones, thanked HBO who gave him and his entire team the opportunity to hold their “golden goose.”
“Hope it was worth it,” he mentioned.
Sapochnik ultimately felt happy that the fabs of the first show accepted the new series with extended hands.
He then said he had noticed an expression of relief in everyone who attended the [premiere in LA, rather than being excited, and later they realized what was happening and then got excited. It was “heartwarming” to know that they literally trimmed the legs of the series Game of Thrones, since the series was definitely one of the best.
The Award ceremony was broadcasted live on Peacock and NBC.
The Golden Globe award comes quite a number of days after the release of the fantasy drama on HBO. The story was so enthralling that it dragged the audience to sit on the edge of their seats the entire time. Like Game of Thrones, House of the Dragon was an advanced season about the eternal struggle to snatch the Iron Throne.
The story was set roughly 200 years before the occurrence of Game of Thrones as well as 172 years before the emergence of Daenerys Targaryen. This time, the show focused on the dynasty of Targaryen. The events lead to the “Dance of the Dragon,” which is a disturbing war of succession.
The American thriller drama starred Matt Smith, Eve Best, Paddy Considine, Emma D’Arcy, Milly Alcock, Steve Toussaint, Sonoya Mizuno, Rhys Ifans, Olivia Cooke, Fabien Frankel, and many others.

It was the first time in the history of HBO that a show gathered the largest audience like in the US alone, House of the Dragon achieved 20 million views, which is praise worthy. Ryan Condal and George R.R Martin created it.
After the Game of Thrones, it is the second series that comes under the franchise of “A Song of Ice and Fire.” After the first series,Sopochnik departed and the responsibility was given to Condal. Therefore, he was the showrunner for the second season.
The Game of Thrones received positive reviews from everywhere and the appraisal was mainly for the writing, score, and actor performances. The trailer had developed such hype among the public that the premiere episode gained more than 10 million views which were historic for HBO.
Due to the success, it was considered for renewal just days after the successful series’ premiere. The overall budget of the House of the Dragon was $200 million, which is equal to #20 million per episode and for the parent series, the total budget was $100 million, meaning $6 million per episode.
While looking at the budget alone, it might look huge, but the profits gained per episode are even higher and thus it was a successful series.
The one and only thing that went wrong for the series was the leak of the climax episode on torrent sites, which urged the creators to come up with something new at the end time.
According to the observation, the leak was from Europe, and later on, the authorities were on complete alert so that there would not be extra leaks.
