Applications are now open for direct payments from the $2 million pot for Virginia residents. They have less than one month to apply for this American Rescue Plan.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, American President Joe Biden implemented the American Rescue plan to recover from the devastating economic and the after-effects of the pandemic in US society.
It was a $1.9 trillion rescue package that assisted people who were facing housing issues and such problems. The plan provided them with rental assistance and housing facilities and other support services.

According to the reports, Virginia has received about $2 million from the American Rescue Plan this month. The Chesapeake Planning Department Community Development Division opened accepting applications for this relief fund on December 9, 2022.
The last date for the submission of the application is on January 13, 2023.
The applicant should be a resident of Virginia and must be 18 years or above. The applicant should be having a household income of 50% area median income or below.
Production or maintenance of affordable housing, tenant-based rental assistance, support services, and the acquisition and development of non-concrete shelters are all initiatives that come under the HOME-ARP (HOME Investment Partnerships American Rescue Plan Programme).
Homeless people or those who run the risk of being homeless are considered eligible residents. People who are attempting to avoid situations of domestic abuse, dating violence, sexual assault, stalking, or human trafficking are also eligible for the relief fund.

People from other vulnerable groups are also eligible for the relief fund if this service prevents them from homelessness. Also, if a veteran or family member of them meets one of the requirements above, they are considered eligible.
People who are eligible for the criteria mentioned earlier can apply for the relief fund through their website or can have an assist from the related authority.
The applicants will be notified by phone, email, or text if they approve their request.
The American Rescue Plan was passed by the House in February 2021 and it was signed into law in March 2021 as a part of Biden’s Build Back Better Plan.
It was one of the most expensive economic rescue plans developed to better American society after the COVID-19 pandemic.
Direct stimulus payments, extending unemployment benefits, moratoria on evictions and foreclosures, and child tax credits are some of the plan’s highlights.
