The extradition of the suspect from the United States to Mexico is to reportedly undergo political barriers. Shanquella Robinson was murdered on October 29 in a resort in Mexico. Her death is considered as a case of femicide by the investigators. Death is considered as a case of direct attack.
Robinson was a 25-year-old student at Winston – Salem StateUniversity in North Carolina. She was found dead at a luxury resort in Baja California State of Mexico.
Prior to two weeks, the Mexican authorities had issued an arrest warrant for the suspect. The suspect remains unnamed.
The authorities had also appealed for the extradition to Mexico to face the accused charges. Even after the issuing of the arrest warrant, the required red notice from Interpol has not been issued in the name of the suspect.

The Department of Justice of the United States is conducting investigations into the request for extradition by Mexico. After the completion of the investigation, the request would be forwarded to the State Department. The State Department is to finally approve the request only on which the extradition would be taking place.
The countries of Mexico and the United States are following a treaty of extradition signed in 1978.
Dmitriy Shakhnevich, the criminal defense lawyer, views that the next to happen would be more of a political issue than a legal issue. Shakhnevich is also a part-time professor at the John Jay College of Criminal Justice in New York.
He said that if the authorities in the United States deem it appropriate, then they would pursue the people for whom the arrest warrant was issued. And that those people would engage in a legal process there in the United States which involves going through the federal courts and then ultimately appealing the extradition decision to the secretary of state.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation has to investigate to determine if there is actual sufficient cause for the suspect to be extradited before the people engaging in a legal process in the United States.
The process of determining the cause would not have a meaning that the bureau would investigate and cross-check the criminal probe of Mexico.
Shakhnevich further explained that yet again the whole purpose of the treaty would be in a way that one country questioned the other country. She continued that the treaty means that the countries as parties engaged in the treaty would be understanding of each other’s legal processes such that if they come to a decision, then that decision must be abided by at any cost.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has verified the news of the undergoing investigation regarding the case and request. Further details of the investigation are not available yet as the FBI has not responded.
