Upon their arrival at the crime scene, the police found two men who were shot near the American Eagle store, which is located close to the food court in the mall.
The police had not spoken or revealed much about the incident or their findings but it was notified by the officials that their preliminary report was that the shooting resulted in some kind of dispute but they are still not sure what might have caused the dispute. It was also stated by the police that the two men were shot by a third person. The details about a possible suspect or any such information are yet to be obtained from official sources.

The officers are under the assumption that the shooter fled the crime scene after the incident and they are leaving no stone unturned in their efforts to track down the suspect.
Maj. David Bowen who is with the Greenville Police Department provided some insight into the case according to their preliminary findings.
As per his findings, the incident at the mall was not a result of some random action but instead, it was the result of a dispute that occurred between the shooter and the victims.
The reason behind the shooting is yet to be found by the police. As the act was not random, there were no other casualties as a result of the shooting.
He also added that the police department was working closely with the mall management to get a better understanding of the incident. The police are reported to carry out interviews with witnesses and are also trying to retrieve the security camera footage, which can provide a better insight into the incident.
Officer David Bowen, in his statement, made it clear that there were no reports of any of the employees of the mall or any other mall patrons being injured in the incident. The police did receive some phone calls from people who were hiding in the storage areas following the incident.
They were escorted out safely by the officers. As the event took place on Black Friday, the mall had a large number of customers but that did not interfere with the working of the police or their efforts to locate the victims.
While around 15 to 20 officers of the Greenville Police Department were present at the crime scene, they also received the assistance of East Carolina University’s Police Department.
They helped the Greenville officers to clear off the shoppers and other people from the main business area and also from the parking lot. The Greenville Police Department officially thanked the assistance provided by the East Carolina University Police Department.
