Bringing an end to the case between rapper Tory Lanez and Megan Thee Stallion, the 30-year-old Tory Lanez was found guilty of all charges accused against him.
According to the verdict, Tory Lanez whose original name is Daystar Peterson has a chance of serving a sentence of up to 22 years and also can be deported back to Canada.
Tory Lanez was accused of different charges like discharging a firearm with negligence, then committing an assault with a semi-automatic firearm, and finally the charge of carrying an unregistered loaded firearm in his vehicle.
Tory Lanez was accused of the above charges from an incident that took place between him and fellow rapper Megan Thee Stallion. According to the statements given by Megan, Lanez shot at her feet about five times.
The original incident which became the base for the case took place on July 12, 2020, after a party in Hollywood Hills.
Megan Pete, who goes by her professional name Megan Thee Stallion, told the court that the feud between the two artists started as an argument but things quickly got out of hand as soon as they started to mention and attack their careers.
Alex Spiro, the attorney for Megan Thee Stallion took the case to the court for her and in a statement after the judgment, he responded that the jury got it right and that he was very thankful that his client received the justice she deserved.
The Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascon praised the bravery of Megan Thee Stallion in a statement that was released immediately after the verdict was given.
In his statement, he mentioned that Megan expressed incredible courage and vulnerability with her testimony even though she was a victim of a grotesque attack that she did not deserve.
Gascon also added that women are generally afraid to report attacks and assaults against them, and in them too, Black women were larger in number. They did not talk about such incidents as they are too often not believed.
After the verdict was announced by the jury, George Mgdesyan, an attorney who appeared for Lanez said that they were very disappointed by the verdict and that their team would be looking into all the different options that they have which include an appeal too.
The incident that became the basis of the case took place on July 12, 2020. Megan and Lanez were reportedly leaving a house party in Hollywood Hills and they both had an argument with each other.
Following the argument, Megan got out of the car in which she was with Lanez. According to Megan’s statement, she was shot around five times. Megan also reported having a wound on her feet which was a result of the gunshot and reportedly she underwent surgery to remove the bullet fragments from her feet.
Following the incident, two of the rappers publicly addressed the issue but both of them had their own versions of the story, which left people hard to believe.
While Megan took the issue to public platforms like Instagram where she accused Lanez of hurting her intentionally and then going on lying about it, Lanez countered the arguments by saying that he was innocent and that Megan and her team were trying to frame him for a crime that he did not commit.
Tory Lanez took the measure even a step further. Lanez released a new album named ‘Daystar’ on September 25, 2020, and the issue regarding the shooting was mentioned in almost all of the songs in the album.
There was also an argument that Tory Lanez offered Megan money in order not to report to the police about the shooting as he was on probation. However, this argument was denied by Lanez’s attorney.

Daystar Shemuel Shua Peterson is the original name of Tory Lanez. He is a Canadian rapper who is also famous for singing, songwriting, and record producing. He got signed by Benny Blanco, for his record label Mad Love Records in 2015.
Tory Lanez got his initial break after releasing his mixtape titled ‘Conflicts of My Soul: The 416 Story.’ It was released in August 2013.
Some of his songs from albums then made it to the Billboard charts, increasing the fame, popularity, and acceptability of his music. His debut studio album ‘I Told You’ had two songs that topped at number 23 and 19 on Billboard’s Hot 100.
Better known by her professional name Megan Thee Stallion, Megan Jovon Ruth Pete, is an American rapper and songwriter. Megan began being noticed by the public eye through her freestyling Instagram videos.
As her videos were very popular with the crowd, she was signed by 300 Entertainment in 2018. Megan released her debut studio album in 2020 and it was named ‘Good News.’ Throughout her short career, Megan received many accolades, including the prestigious Grammy awards.
