Philstavious Dowdell was the football commit of the football team of Jacksonville State University, who was murdered in the recent Jacksonville Alabama shooting. He was one among the four unfortunate who had to sacrifice their lives in the tragic event.
Dowdell was attending the birthday party of his sister. The birthday party took place at the dance studio named Mahogany Masterpiece. The city of the tragic event is situated around 57 miles northeast of Montogomery in Alabama. More than 3,200 people reside in the city.
A group of teenagers had gathered round the dance studio, all of them were there to celebrate the birthday party. The firing broke out a few minutes past 10.30 p.m.
Phil Dowdell was in his senior year at Dadeville High School. He was committed to Jacksonville State University in its official football team.
On Saturday night he was celebrating the 16th birthday party of his sister at a dance studio in downtown Dadeville. Dowdell’s mother was injured in the shooting and is currently under medical care. She is suffering from two gunfire wounds.
Annette Allen the grandmother of the deceased teenager and that the boy was happily participating in the sweet 16 birthday party of his sister Alexis. She recalled him as a humble child who always had a smile on his face. She said the smile was worth anything and for her, it was nothing less than a million-dollar smile.
Pastor Ben Hayes, the Chaplain of the Dadeville football team said that Phil was a great man. He added that Dowdell was a great example of what it means to be a competitor. Hayes said that Dowdell was loved and adored by all and that others including his mates and teachers respected him for his efforts and hard work.
Rich Rodriguez the head coach of the Jacksonville State football team representing the entire team said that their thoughts and prayers were with the family of Philstavious Dowdell and others who became the victims of the innocent that took place last night. He referred to the incident as a senseless tragedy.
The coach viewed Dowdell as a young man who had a bright future. He added that he and his staff were heartbroken and they all hopes that everyone would support Dowdell’s family through the difficult time.
The university team on its official Twitter account named Jax State Football wrote that Jax State Football was heartbroken to have lost an upcoming member of its program. His post also continued with a photo of the statement issued by the head football coach, Rich Rodriquez.
The others who lost their lives in the firing are:
Keke Nicole Smith,
Siah Collins, and
Corbin Holston.
Michael Taylor, Keke Smith’s coach said that she was a good child who had lots of optimism in her life. The day before the shooting, Keke Smith had spent a lot of time with her coach. Taylor was not able to accept that Smith was not there anymore.
Keke Smith was a volleyball player for the Dadeville Tigers team. She also played softball under the school banner during her junior year. What caused her to become a manager was an ACL injury, in which her anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) was torn.
It is the ligament in the middle of the knee. Coach Taylor recalled her as a girl filled with love. The coach said that Keke Smith was loved by all and she was friendly with everyone. Keke Smith was described as the life of parties and she vibrated energy and positivity.

Keke Nicole Smith was in her senior year of high school at Dadeville High School. Keke Smith was a manager of the school basketball team and the school track and field team.
According to the primary report of the event, almost 28 have been injured. Frank Goodman, the Mayor of Dadeville said it was a chaotic incident. He was sleeping while the shooting took place and was awakened by a call at 11 p.m. He rushed to the Lake Martin Community Hospital where some of the victims were under care.
Gregg Popovich, the coach of the San Antonio Spurs for the past many years pressed the need to implement gun control laws. He said that all these requests for gun control will be cloaked using the Second Amendment and in the name of freedom. He mentioned that the Second Amendment recently poses a myth that takes the lives of innocent people.
He said it was more of a joke and just a game played by those who have power on their hands. He condemned the need to possess guns and other arms in the name of the Second Amendment and freedom. He asked a question to which no one had an answer.
His question posed the dilemma of freedom that the kids going to school to learn and socialize and gets killed rather. He questioned whether it was fair that the little children had to go to school everyday sacred so they would be killed that day or not.
