The YouTube Streamy Awards 2022 took place on December 4, 2022, at The Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, Los Angeles. The award function is held annually to recognize the best personalities in online content creation in different categories like direction, acting, producing, and writing.
This year’s award function witnessed the victory of Jimmy Donaldson, better known by the name MrBeast, for the top creator of the year for the second time in a row. MrBeast won the award for the top creator in 2021 too. The main channel he owns under the name ‘MrBeast’ is the fourth most subscribed channel on the platform and is the highest by any individual on YouTube.
The award night saw the union of some of the most popular YouTubers in the world. The function was hosted by Eric Decker, who is a very popular YouTube creator, better known to his fans by the name Airrack. The evening also featured a performance by Yung Gravy the rapper.
Different awards in multiple categories were given out at the function, with the creator of the year being one of the most notable and prestigious ones. Many different YouTubers like Addison Rae, Airrack, Charli D’Amelio, Blogilates, JiDion, Logan Paul, Mark Rober, and MrBallen were also nominated for the awards but it was finally won by MrBreast for the second time again.
The Streamys started in the year 2009 and it was the 12th annual Awards function that was held on December 4. The Awards also included new categories related to gaming like Competitive Gamer, Variety Streamers, Breakout Streamer, and also Streamer of the Year. A separate category for creators who use virtual avatars also was included as VTubers.
Some of the other notable awards that were given out in the ceremony were;
◾ Show of the Year
There were a total of ten nominations for the award in this section. The nominations included Challenge Accepted – Michelle Khare, Chicken Shop Date – Amelia Dimoldenberg, Hot Ones – First We Feast, I Spend a Day With – Anthony Padilla, Side talk, and so on. But the winner in this category was the American comedy, talk, and variety YouTube series Good Mythical Morning. The series was created by Rhett McLaughlin and Link Neal. It was first aired on YouTube in 2012.
◾ Streamer of the Year
The nominations for the ward that acknowledged the best creator who broadcast themselves in the best way to their subscribers included names like HasanAbi, IShowSpeed, Kyedae, Ludwig, xQc, Valkyrae, and a few more. Best known for his comical vlogging and prank videos, Kai Cenat won the ward for the Streamer of the Year.
◾ International
Even though there were around five nominations in the International category, it was almost predictable that the TikTok sensation Khaby Lame, who has the most followers on the short-app platform TikTok won the award. Khaby’s videos took the internet by storm and the silent videos in which he mocks complicated life hacks became an instant hit all over the world.
The other nominees in this category included names like Mythpat from India, HikakinTV from Japan, Enaldinho from Brazil, and finally the Ansala Family from the United Arab Emirates.
◾ Short Form
The last category in the overall awards, the nominations for this category included DeMarcus Shawn, Ian Boggs, Savannah Moss, Sheena Melwani, and the cheeky boys. It was Sheena Melwani who won the award.
