Suze Orman – Early Life
The financial expert was born on June 5, 1951, and she was born on the South Side of Chicago. Suze Orman’s parents were not from America.
Her father Morry Orman was a Russian descendant who immigrated from Kyiv. He managed a deli in Hyde Park and also used to work in a chicken factory.
Her mother Ann Orman was of Romanian origin and she used to work as the secretary of a local rabbi. Suze Orman spends most of her childhood in her hometown and also completed her basic education there.
After completing her school education, Orman enrolled at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
While most people think that Orman took up subjects related to finance in college owing to her career, she actually studied social work.
After earning her bachelor’s degree in the subject, Orman also received two honorary doctorates, one from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and another from Bentley University.

Suze Orman left her hometown after completing her college education in search of new opportunities. Orman chose Berkeley, California as her destination, and the first job that she had there was that of a waitress.
Orman decided to give finance after losing a sum of $52,000 to trading. She entered trading through a representative at Merrill Lynch.
Orman received the needed training to become an account executive from Merrill Lynch and after completing her training, she also found a job at the firm and worked there until 1983. Orman left Merril Lynch for a better position at Prudential Bache Securities. She joined the firm as the vice president.
Suze Orman served at the firm for three years and after that, she resigned from her position to start her own company. ‘Suze Orman Financial Group’ was a result of her innovation and became officially open in 1987 in Emeryville, California.
Suze Orman served as the director of the firm for almost ten years before retiring from the position in 1997.
After resigning as the director of the company that she founded in 197, the next big thing in the career of Suze Orman was ‘The Suze Orman Show’ which started airing on CNBC in 2002.
The show became a success and ran for almost 13 years before finally ending the telecast in 2015. One year later, Ormans also got appointed as the finance educator for the United States Army and also the Army Reserve.
Recording success in the field of television hosting, writing, and also as a financial advisor, Orman currently focuses her time on her twice weekly ‘Suze Orman Women & Money Podcast.’
