The former football player from the US, Ed Reed is facing a hard time in his coaching career. He is topping the headlines as his agreement with the HBCU (Historically Black Colleges and Universities) has fallen apart and he would not be a coach for Bethune-Cookman University.
He accused the authorities of corruption and said that he would not withdraw his name as the head coach.

Ed Reed is a former American football player with the position of safety and head coach. He is 44 years old.
Reed has a height of 1.80 m, 5 ft, and 11 inches, and a weight of 93 kg, and 205 lbs. In his career, he has played for the teams Baltimore Ravens from 2002 to 2012, Houston Texas in 2013, and New York Jets in 2013.
He served in the position of an assistant defensive backs coach in 2016 for the team Buffalo Bills.
From 2020 to 2021 he served as the Chief of staff for the University of Miami team. As of 2022, he is the senior football advisor to the football team of the University of Miami.
He has played 174 games, has 7 touchdowns, 643 tackles, 139 defended passes, 64 interceptions, 1,590 interception yards, 11 forced fumbles, and 13 fumble recoveries in his entire career

Ed Reed was born in St. Rose, St. Charles Parish, Louisiana, United States in 1978. He was assigned a birth name of Edward Earl Reed Jr.
Ed Reed: Education
He was an attendee of Destrehan High School in Destrehan, Louisiana. From 1997 to 2001 he was an attendee at the University of Miami, Florida.
He was a part of the Fighting Wildcats football team with whom he was an all-state selection at defensive back and a kick returner. Reed was also ranked as the Most Valuable Defensive Player of the District of the New Orleans Times-Picayune.
In his senior year, he had the position of running back and quarterback and totaled 83 tackles, seven interceptions, three forced fumbles, and 12 passes deflected. He returned three touchdown punts to his credit.
He also played baseball, basketball, and track and field. His football team jersey number was 20 which was retired by the team.
In high school, he excelled in track and field sports. He was a fellow member of the state champion 4 × 100 meters relay squad. He had set a new record in javelin throw by a throw of 56.94 meters (186 ft 10 in).
In addition to this, Reed was also a standout performer in the triple jump and long jump. In the triple jump, his record personal best was over 46 feet (14 m) and in the long jump, it was over 24 feet (7.3 m).

College Career
Reed joined the University of Miami after receiving an athletic scholarship. During his college years, he was a standout defensive back for coach Butch Davis and coach Larry Coker’s Miami Hurricanes football teams. He was a part of the 2001 National Championship team of the Miami Hurricanes.
Post the redshirting in the 1997 season, he led the team in the 1998 season with two interceptions and four forced fumbles. In the consecutive season, 1999 season, he had two more interceptions.
He received the recognition of consensus first-team All-American in the 2000 season and unanimous first-team All-American in the 2001 season. In the year 2001, Reed led the nation with nine interceptions for 209 yards and three touchdowns. The prior one was a school record.
In the university, he was a record breaker and he did set multiple new records. Some of his records are a career with 21 interceptions, career interception return yards with 389, and interceptions returned for touchdowns with five. In his four-year college career, he had blocked four punts.
Further to this, in his college years, Reed was a member of the 2000 track and field team of the Miami Hurricanes, He competed in the javelin throws and jumps. He is known for his participation in the 2000 Big East Championships.
Ed Reed graduated from college with a bachelor’s degree in liberal arts in 2001.
Reed was inducted into the Sports Hall of Fame of the University of Miami as part of the university’s Class of 2012 at a banquet held in Miami in 2012.
He was also inducted into the Football Hall of Fame of College in 2018. In his college time, he had shared a room with Reggie Wayne, the wide receiver for Indianapolis Colts as his roommate.
Professional Career
Ed Reed was selected by the Baltimore Ravens, a professional American football team based in Baltimore, in the first round, 24th overall, of the 2002 NFL Draft. He was drafted as a safety.
He was signed by the team for a 6.18 million US Dollars contract for a period of 5 years on August 3, 2002. He began his career in the team by entry to the training camp as a starting free safety. He was named to start the regular season along with Will Demps a fellow rookie and strong safety.
Reed debuted in his professional regular season and his first career starts in the season opener at the Carolina Panthers. He scored 3 solo tackles although the team lost for 10-7.
His career with the Baltimore Ravens went on for almost 10 years. He scored a total of 14 touchdowns for the team. At the end of the 2012 season, when his contract expired he became a free agent. Initially, he had thought of retiring after the 2012 season, however, he went on to continue playing football in 2013. This decision was made by him after the Super Bowl.
Later in 2013, he signed a 15 million US Dollars, with a 5 million US Dollars guaranteed, contract with the Houston Texans, a professional American football team based in Houston. In the 2013 season, he had to undergo an arthroscopic surgery in his hip to repair a small labral tear. Further, in 2013 he was released by the team.
In November 2013 Ed Reed was signed by New York Jets, a professional American football team based in the New York metropolitan area.
Retirement
Ed Reed made an announcement of his retirement on May 6, 2015. The whole of the previous year he had spent out of the game, football. He finally retired on the very next day, May 7, 2015, after signing a one-day contract with the Ravens.
In 2019, in his very first year of eligibility, Ed Reed was elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame, the highest career recognition for any player in the game. He was ranked as the third homegrown Raven to achieve this career recognition. Ed Reed was named to the NFL 100 All-Time Team.

Coaching Career
Ed Reed started a career as a coach in 2016 when he was hired by the Buffalo Bills, a professional American football team based in the Buffalo metropolitan area, as their assistant defensive backs coach.
Later in the year 2022, he was hired by the Bethune–Cookman Wildcats football team, the football team representing the Bethune–Cookman university in college football, as their new head coach.
The college did not sign his contract which led him to not get the position. He was dismissed from what he had offered and he criticized the university. He said that the university does not want him there because he tells the truth.
Administrative Career
Ed Reed began his administrative career on January 30, 2020, when the University of Miami hired him as the chief of staff of the university football team.
It was an advisory role to Manny Diaz, the then head coach of the team. After the departure of Diaz from his role, Reed maintained his position of being the advisory coach to Mario Cristobal, the new head coach.
