American actor, singer, musician, and children’s book author Bob McGrath is best known for creating and portraying the human character Bob Johnson on the iconic children’s television program ‘Sesame Street.’
Robert Emmett Bob McGrath, also known as Bob McGrath was born in Ottawa, Illinois, on June 13, 1932. When he was barely 27 years old, McGrath began his career as an actor in 1959. Within a short period, he quickly advanced in his field, influencing people via his work and gaining widespread fame.
As he gained fame, his career eventually came to be a success. The performance made McGrath famous in the United States of America, as well as in other countries around the world.
Bob McGrath’s Education
The University of Michigan’s School of Music is where McGrath earned his degree in 1954. He participated in the University of Michigan’s Men’s Glee club and the Phi Gamma Delta Fraternity while a student at Michigan.
He washes dishes for fraternity events. David Conell, a Fraternity brother, served tables before Sesame Street casting began. He joined the US army after graduating, serving 2 years in Germany and booking and conducting performances for the Seventh Army Symphony Orchestra.
McGrath graduated from the Manhattan School of Music in 1959 with a master of Music in Voice.

He was born as the son of Dean Martin and Jeanne Martin.
In 1958, McGrath married Ann and they had five children, five granddaughters, and three grandsons. From 1958 through 2017, the couple lived in Teaneck, New Jersey, before relocating to a ranch near Norwood.

He served as the program’s main tenor for all four seasons of Miller’s NBC-TV television singalong series “Sing Along With Mitch.” He contributed a song to the Songs of the Pogo album by Walt Kelly.
McGrath rose to fame as a recording artist in Japan in the middle of the 1960s by putting out several popular albums of Japanese-sung versions of Irish and other folk songs and ballads.
Later, he played the role of Bob Johson on Sesame Street regularly from 1969 to 2016, which gave him fame around the world.
