Antonee Robinson’s Professional Career

Robinson was born in the English town of Milton Keynes. He joined Everton’s soccer academy when he was 11 years old. In June 2013, he got a full-time job with the club by signing a scholarship. He is on the USMNT roster for the World Cup in Qatar in 2022.

Robinson was hurt a lot when he was on Everton’s U18 team, so he spent most of his time on the sidelines. Toward the end of the 2014–15 season, he played for the U21 team. So, the club’s Under-18 Players’ Player of the Season award went to him. After being offered a new contract at the end of the 2014–15 season, he signed his first professional contract with the club.

Robinson missed most of the 2015–16 season because he tore the cartilage under his kneecap, which meant he had to have knee surgery. Even so, on July 15, 2016, he signed a new one-year contract.

On July 15, 2019, Robinson signed a three-year deal with Wigan Athletic. He made his Wigan debut against Rotherham United and scored his first goal for the team on November 26, 2019, in a 2–2 draw at Millwall.

Robinson was going to sign with Serie A team A.C. Milan for $13 million before the transfer deadline on January 31, 2020. He had been one of the best left-backs for Wigan in the EFL Championship.

But the deal fell through when Robinson’s medical exam in Milan showed that he had an irregular heart rhythm that could not be tested any further before the deadline and would have to be treated with an ablation procedure.

After Wigan was kicked out of the Championship, Robinson went to play for Fulham in the Premier League. He played his first game for the team on September 16 against Ipswich Town in a League Cup game that Fulham won.

On October 4, he played for the first time in the Premier League against Wolverhampton. On August 24, 2021, he scored his first goal for the team in an EFL Cup game against Birmingham City.

Robinson is eligible for both England and the United States because he was born and raised in Milton Keynes, England. His father, on the other hand, was born in England but raised in White Plains, New York, and became an American citizen.

Robinson first played for the United States when he was 18. He was also picked for the U.S. under-20 team but did not get a cap. Robinson was asked to join both the U.S. senior team and the England under-21 team in March 2018.

He chose to join the U.S. senior team for a friendly against Paraguay, where he was put on the bench. On May 28, 2018, he played his first game for the US national team, a 3–0 friendly win over Bolivia. He played all 90 minutes and had an assist.
