The #56 outfielder for the MLB’s Tampa Bay Rays is a Cuban-Mexican. In January 2020, the Rays acquired him from the St. Louis Cardinals.

He hit 10 home runs in a single postseason that year, breaking the MLB record. He was named series MVP in the 2020 AL Championship Series after hitting four against the Houston Astros.

Randy was named the American League’s Rookie of the Year the next year. He batted during his MLB career.269 with 58 stolen bases, 171 RBIs, and 48 home runs.

Before making his major league debut against the Kansas City Royals in August 2019, he played for the Palm Beach Cardinals, Mayos de Navojoa, Springfield Cardinals, and Memphis Redbirds in the minor league.

The Mexican team’s participation in the 2023 World Baseball Classic was announced in October 2022 for the Cuban native.

Randy Arozarena Mother Sandra

In a little Cuban town called Pinar Del Rio, Randy Arozarena parents, Jesus Arozarena and Sandra Gonzalez, brought up three kids.

The first child of Jesus and Sanda was born in 1995. In 2002, Ronny Arozarena, their youngest son, was born.

Jesus, his father, was his biggest supporter throughout his baseball and life journey. He never skipped his son’s games or practices.

Jesus happened to eat a seafood plate in 2014 while at one of Randy’s playoff games in a different city and experienced a serious allergic reaction. He passed away soon after.

“Losing my dad, my biggest supporter at an early age was the most difficult thing I ever had to go through, and the memory of losing him in a baseball field, that remains very much with me and gets me very upset when I think about it,” Randy said, adding that he felt isolated as a result of what happened.

Randy also had an additional role in the house once his father passed away. It became increasingly urgent for him to start a professional job in the US after his financial obligations to the family unexpectedly escalated.

Randy Arozarena Became The Breadwinner After His Father’s Death

In the wake of his father’s passing, the baseball player decided that he wanted to leave Cuba and had a difficult chat with his mother.

Sandra gave him her approval despite both of them being aware of the potential repercussions, which included the possibility of never seeing each other again. The account @sandragonzalez58 that belongs to Randy’s mother appears on Instagram, although she rarely posts.

The 19-year-old travelled to Mexico on a little boat, about the size of a kayak, in June 2015. He recalled, “I saw waves in the Gulf of Mexico that were 5 to 6 metres high. It was awfully nasty. To survive and support my family, though, I had to take a chance.

Thankfully, Randy made it. I took the chance, and fortunately I arrived here without mishap. I am now representing the Tampa Bay Rays, he stated.

Randy Arozarena Had a Challenging Family Situation

Raiko and Ronny Arozarena are his two younger brothers, while Randy Arozarena is the family’s eldest kid.

Middle son Raiko Arozarena enjoys playing football. The custodian, 25, competes for Tampa Bay Rowdies in the USL Championship.

He made 16 appearances for the team in 2022 and is currently on loan at Forward Maddison. He additionally represented Cuba’s U-20 national team.

The eldest, 20-year-old Ronny Arozarena, has also played baseball. Right now, he is an outfielder available for hire.

The Arozarenas have made their mother proud, who notes that “the best part is they have faith in them and strive to try to achieve what they want every day.”

Although they don’t live together, the brothers visit each other occasionally. And it’s obvious that they both admire each other.

Randy, 27, claims that Raiko is his hero and that he is unquestionably more athletic and would perform better in baseball than he would at soccer.

Raiko also respected his big brother by asking to wear No. 56, saying it was “cool that two brothers have the same number and are competing at the top level.”

The man Randy is wed now. At the Kantoyna Ranch, close to Mérida, Mexico, he married his Colombian wife Cenelia Pinedo Blanco in 2020.

Randy Arozarena was Born in Cuba But Also Loves Mexico

Randy Arozarena

Randy Arozarena is a native of Arroyos de Mantua, a small town on Cuba’s northwest coast.

Arozarena, who went by the moniker El Cohete Cubana or “the Cuban Rocket,” remembers his late father watching him play for the Veguroes de Pinar Del Rio baseball team.

He also has wonderful recollections of dancing and playing football with his siblings and friends on the streets of Cuba. In actuality, Randy says that football is his first love. He continues to watch the game, supporting Cristiano Ronaldo and Real Madrid.

To focus on baseball, the most played sport in Cuba, he had to give up his other sport. When he signed with Vegueros de Pinar del Ro in 2014, he was already one of the top players in the Cuban National Series. This was the start of his professional baseball career.

Randy relocated to Mexico after the unfortunate, irrevocable turn in his life, where he played baseball for a significant portion of his life.

He has expressed his desire to become a citizen of Mexico and play for his native country in the 2023 World Baseball Classic because he loves the nation so much.

Despite the fact that I am Cuban, Randy said, “It would be an honour to represent Mexico.” His tale echoes that of numerous other MLB players of Cuban descent who were forced to leave the country in search of a better life.

He says things are horrible in Cuba, but he still has a connection to his native country because of the family and friends he left behind. His birthplace, a little town, is another memory he has.

Conclusion

So, this was all about Randy Arozarena parents, his personal life, how he became a breadwinner for his family after the demise of his father. Stay tuned for more such posts!
