Anatoly Legkodymov, a Russian crypto expert and a resident of China has been charged by the Department of Justice (DOJ) of the United States for generating more than 700 million US Dollars in illegal funds.
Legkodymov was taken into custody in Miami. The arrest was announced by Breon Peace, the US Attorney in a press meeting. He said that institutions that trade in cryptocurrency were not above the law and their owners were not beyond the reach of the law.
He continued that as alleged, Bitzlato sold itself to criminals as a no-questions-asked cryptocurrency exchange, and reaped hundreds of millions of dollars worth of deposits as a result. He added that the defendant was now paying the price for the malign role that his company played in the cryptocurrency ecosystem.
