Golden Globe Award Winner Valerie Bertinelli settled her divorce with ex-husband Tom Vitale. The divorce was settled on Tuesday.
According to the documents it is stated that Bertinelli would pay her ex-husband $2.2 million in full, final, and complete settlement and satisfaction of any and all claims between them. The documents further read that as set forth in the Prenuptial Agreement, both of them would not be receiving spousal support.
The divorce settlement document consisted of 12 pages and both parties as well as their lawyers had signed it.
After the divorce, Bertinelli posted a video on Instagram in which she said “ My lawyer just called. The papers are all signed. They’re about to be filed. On 11/22/22, I am officially f***ing divorced. Happily divorced. Finally, It’s finally over. Yes!” In her short video, she added the GIPHY that read “happily divorced”. On Twitter, she posted the same video clip with the caption “11.22.22 second best day of my life”.
The Emmy Award winner had filed for legal separation from her ex-husband in November 2021 and the divorce filing came 6 months after that in May. Their legal separation was handled by Hank Goldberg, a private Judge, which included the Attorney Fees issues and Spousal Support. It also had a provision about the bifurcated Validity of the Premarital Agreement proceedings.
After the divorce was filed by the star Mr. Vitale asked to be able to receive spousal support. The documents read that he also sought to block Bertinelli from receiving spousal support. He did also challenge their prenuptial agreement validity.
As a response to this challenge, Bertinelli filed a 13-page document requesting to bifurcate her marital status from the financial consequences that would arise in the divorce.
According to the documents of the court it is stated that Bertinelli was looking for an early and separate trial on the issue of the validity of the Premarital Agreement. Vitale had asked for receiving $200,000 in legal fees and $50,000 per month in spousal support.
However, Bertinelli requested for a separate trial from any other challenges related to the divorce. As per her request, she pointed out that their Premarital Agreement signed by both of them before the marriage consists of a waiver of temporary and permanent spousal support.
The premarital agreement was signed by them in 2010. They had dated for several years and got married in 2011 at their Malibu cliff-side home in a New Year’s Day ceremony.
The reason why she is opting for the dissolution of her marriage is “irreconcilable differences” in light of the court documents from her earlier divorce filing. She was married for a decade to her ex-husband.
In September 2022 she posted photos of a pair of shoes and rings on her Instagram handle. The photo series announced her selling her wedding ring and shoes to “TheRealReal” a luxury resale marketplace.
In the photo, there was a pair of sleek brown Jimmy Choo strappy heels studded with diamonds and two wedding bands. In the backdrop of the wedding bands, a classic Tiffany & Co. box was visible. The caption of her post was “Dropped a few things off with @therealreal.
“A couple of Tiffany rings that have some bad memories attached and a pair of shoes I wore to a wedding in January 2011” with a winking face emoji and “They should be up in a couple of weeks” with a sparkles emoji and a sparkling heart emoji.
While receiving the call about her divorce settlement she was at the airport traveling to see her son, Wolfgang Van Halen. He is a thirty-one-year aged musician.
Her tweet and the Instagram post were warmly welcomed by other stars and her fans, and it was also viewed as a bold move.
