Alex Whalen is a country singer all the way from London who auditioned for The Voice season 2023 on Monday, March 6. After the incredible night of Blind Auditions, Whaler has been the talk of the street.
The Voice returned for its brand new season yesterday with a batch of contestants and a pair of fresh coaches, the world-renowned singer-songwriter Niall Horan and the Grammy-winning hip-hop icon Chance the Rapper.
Season 23 of NBC’s long-running singing reality show has also marked the return of the everyday Voice judges Blake Shelton and Kelly Clarkson.
Although the premiere episode witnessed several other performances, the one that garnered the most traction was Whalen’s rendition of “Help Me It Through the Night.”
Alex Whalen’s Biography
Alex is a regular performer at Tampa-based bars and restaurants, leading a private life with his beautiful wife in the same land. The veteran musician traveled from London to the United States to make sure he gave an attempt to evoke his talent.
In a 2019 interview, Alex elucidated that he was a mere train driver and was apparently stuck in life. However, his wife was getting trained to learn horse riding and she also used to perform music at events after they landed in Aiken SC. However, the situation wasn’t any better in London.
Further in the interview, Alex termed his music as a contemporary outlaw country that was mostly inspired by artists like Chris Stapelton, Willie Nelson, and Johnny Cash.
Although Alex has written various original music based on his true experiences, he has released none of them so far.
Alex Whalen’s Delivered A Mind-Blowing Performance On The Voice 2023
Sammi Smith’s “Help Me Make It Through the Night” came as a great help for Whalen on the stage of Voice 2023 as he could manage to pull out interesting comments from the coaches, especially Blake.
His unforgettable look and trademark sound made him stand out from the other contestants. It was also visible that the judges were quite impressed with his performance.
Since Whalen is a country singer, everybody’s attention went straight to the veteran, Shelton, to see how fast he would turn his chair. However, Clarkson was quicker to identify Whalen’s timeless voice as she turned yeh chair before anyone else could.
The next among the judges who noticed him was Shelton, who thought bagging this crooner would be easy peasy.
Clarkson, who was already pumped by the generosity in his voice, told him that “You have a gorgeous voice.” But before she says anything, the veteran playfully said that she was astounded to see Whalen joining Chance’s team, when he was the last one to approve of his talent.
However, Chance handled the situation with more ease as he added that it would indeed be a nice option and went on to the judgment where he wholeheartedly appreciated the singer saying he actually did perform well.
In the middle, Shelton chimed in and asked Horan to evaluate Whalen on his behalf. The latter happily accepted the deal and asserted that Whalen was right up Shelton’s alley.

Shelton Was Blown Away By Whalen’s performance
Shelton who was numbed after Whalen’s performance finally spoke about the country singer and interestingly he began the conversation by sharing a complaint.
He said that in his entire career, he had no chance to work with a country singer who hailed from London, hinting that possibly Whalen could be the first London native to join his club. Furthermore, he went to complement Whalen’s braided beard, which according to him was looking “badass.”
However, the highlight of the episode came when the nine-time champ told Whalen that he needed him to be on his team in his last season as a coach on The Voice. Even before Whalen could say anything, Chance hilariously joked saying that The Voice 2023 was his last as well.
Chance further appreciated his tone adding it was “so unique,” and therefore named Whalen a “natural tenor.” Prior to inviting Whalen, Chance quickly invited the tabloid attention to the way how Waheln placed his glasses on the hat, which was adding more “swag’ to him.
Who Did Whalen Choose?
Whalen, who is a country singer was obviously expected to choose either of the veterans and he did exactly the same. Without a doubt, Whalen chose to go ahead with Shelton’s team.
