In the most recent episode of “Sister Wives,” Kody Brown is surprised by Janelle’s amount of support for his ex-wife Christine.
Christine has relied on Janelle throughout Season 17 as she has dealt with several challenging family discussions around her and Kody’s divorce. However, Kody argues in the Sunday, November 20 episode that Janelle is more morally supporting her ex-sister wife than her husband.
Kody Brown has discussed the adverse effects his divorce from Christine Brown has had on his relationships with his other wives, Meri Brown, Janelle Brown, and Robyn Brown.
During the Sunday, November 27, episode of “Sister Wives,” Kody admitted that “ I’m struggling so much with this divorce. It probably poisoning my relationship with Janelle a little bit and poisoning my relationship with Robyn.”
After more than 25 years of marriage, Christine, 50, formally announced her divorce from Kody in November 2021. The Wyoming native now has his first wife Meri, 51, and second wife Janelle, 53, to whom he spiritually wedded. Additionally, he is legally married to his fourth wife Robyn, 43, whom he married in 2014.
Kody confesses that’ “I’ve always wanted my wives to have close relationships. And it’s a tragedy to me now, after all these years and Christine trash-talking Janelle for four years about our living arrangements, now Janelle and Christine have a better relationship?”
For her part, Janelle admitted in a confessional that she feels caught in the middle and finds it difficult to maintain her affection for Christine apart from Kody’s problems with his ex-wife.
When Christine puts Janelle in an odd spot, she confides in Christin, saying, “I don’t know how to be on a side or be viewed as being on a side.”
“ I am being pulled equally strong. I have -Robyn, Kody, and Meri. I have a duty there. But then I want to be with Christine and her kids during the holidays. I’m damned if I do, damned if I don’t. I can’t choose a side without them saying, ‘You choose a side!” Janelle confessed in an interview.
Christine is getting ready to leave Arizona for her new home in Utah, and Janelle appears to be truly happy for her.
After questioning Christine about her future love life, Janelle said, “ I hope she remarries and I hope I like the guy.”
Janelle and Kody are still arguing about her housing circumstances as the show goes on. She tries to suggest short-term renting a house for the winter months when things with her living in the RV start to go south. Kody disagrees, pointing out that Janelle made the first decision to relocate to the fifth wheel.
When the family comes together to say a very difficult goodbye to Christine on the day of her move, the divisions become even more evident. Christine stands with Janelle and her family on one side, and Kody and Robyn are standing with Robyn’s children on the other. Janelle hugs Christine as she cries and the scene closes.
Christine remarks, “I think this was the worst goodbye that I’ve ever witnessed.”
Even though Christine and Janelle were once sister wives, they are now friends. Despite Kody’s spiritual marriage to Meri, and Janelle, as well as his legal marriage to Robyn, the relationship was tested soon after he announced his separation from Christine.
Kody’s behavior towards his wives and his plan to purchase Christine’s former house infuriated the audience.
Kody admitted that the tension put further strain on his relationships and that he didn’t know what to do when he saw everyone siding with Christine.
“Sister Wives” is an American reality television show that premiered its debut on September 26, 2010, on TLC. the show follows the life of a polygamist family that in later seasons effectively converts into monogamists. This family includes father Kody Brown, his four wives, Meri, Janelle, Christine, and Robyn, and their 18 children.
According to Kody and his four wives, they appeared on the show to dispel the conventional stereotypes and raise public awareness about polygamist homes.
The show premiered episode 12 of season 17 on November 27, 2022. The next episode “ Coronapocalypse” will be aired on December 4, 2022.
