Other media have featured The Simpsons’ adventures, including video games and feature films. When The Simpsons Movie was first released in 2007, it was a massive hit with critics and fans alike. It took so long to make a movie based on a popular television show was surprising to some, but that doesn’t mean it wasn’t being worked on.

Where The Simpsons Movie Idea Come From

The Simpsons creator, Matt Groening, had planned to make a movie based on the show’s characters as early as the first episode, but the show’s success forced him to abandon that concept. From the voice casts to the stories, the production crew toiled for many years to bring everything together that they required for the show.

It wasn’t until 2001 that the cast agreed to participate in the project, but coming up with a storyline proved complicated. Because they were already working full-time on the show, the crew could not develop a story that could be turned into a feature-length picture because they did not have enough time.

Since the beginning of the series, there has been talking of developing a film adaptation of The Simpsons, with creator Matt Groening intending to do it following the series’ conclusion. Although Fox approved the project in 1997, it took the production team years to put everything together – from the voice cast to the story – before the final product was ready for distribution.

The final product was released in 2003. It wasn’t until 2001 that the model agreed to participate in the project, but coming up with a storyline proved complicated. Even though they were already working full-time on the show, the crew could not discover a story that could be turned into a feature-length picture due to a lack of time on their hands.

Worth of movies 

The production of The Simpsons Movie took an excessive amount of time. In July 2019, Groening stated that he had “no doubt” that Disney would make a sequel to The Simpsons at some point in the future.
