Bengals Star Joe Mixon Charged With Pointing A Gun At A Woman

Popular National Football League (NFL) player Joe Mixon who plays for the Cincinnati Bengals had been charged with a warrant for pointing a gun at a woman and threatening her. The photos of the warrant have been circulating on different social media platforms.

According to the available documents and reports, Mixon allegedly pointed a gun at a woman, whose identity was not yet revealed. He also threatened the woman by saying that she should be ‘popped in the face.’

The report also suggests that Mixon added statements like “I should shoot you now. The police can’t get me” after pointing the gun toward the woman.

The reports were filed at the Hamilton County Municipal Court on Thursday. These reports were later made available to different media agencies. These reports made it clear that Joe Mixon will be facing a misdemeanor charge of aggravated menacing.

As of now, there had been no attorney listed for the player in the court. According to the available report and other sources, the incident which led to the events took place on January 21, 2023. It was the same day after the Cincinnati Bengals won over the Buffalo Bills in a divisional-round playoff game.

As Mixon is an active player in the league, getting involved with such a case can do some serious damage to his career and as Mixon is a player who has a track record of similar cases, it is expected to make a mark on his career.

After the news about the charge and Mixon’s action gained attention, his agent Peter Schaffer spoke to NFL networks.

According to Peter Schaffer, the charge was a result of the rush to judgment and also stressed the point that the charges against Mixon will be dropped on Friday. He also went on to criticize the officers for not doing their work as playing with a person’s reputation can do a lot of damage to them.

Being a player of the Cincinnati Bengals, the team was also under the obligation to mark their statement and action on the incident. In their statement, the club announced that they were aware of the charges filed against their running back.

They also stated that the club was undertaking their share of investigation about the raised charges and that they will not comment further on the topic for now. Mixon and the Bengals have an active four-year contract which is valued at $48 million.

The player is currently only two years into the contract. As the club has not mentioned anything further, fans will have to wait a little while longer to know about the future of Joe Mixon with the Cincinnati Bengals.

Issues regarding such charges are not a new thing in the football career of Joe Mixon. Tracing back to June 2014, Joe Mixon was charged with punching a woman named Amelia Molitor in a sandwich shop in Oklahoma. The punch was really brutal and resulted in four of her bones being broken.

It was found out that Mixon was responsible for his action after a security camera footage that showed the attack was submitted in the court. The Oklahoma Supreme Court ordered the video to be released for public viewing, which clearly held Mixon responsible.

The incident which took place in Norman, Oklahoma was reported to be something that started out verbal.

According to the statement Molitor, Mixon, and his friends were harassing Molitor and her friends outside a store and then later followed her into the store, where the incidents took a different turn. The footage also shows Mixon following Molitor into the store.

The two soon began arguing and what was just verbal turned out to be physical abuse very soon. Molitor pushed and slapped Mixon, for which he responded with a punch that made her fall on a table. Molitor accused Mixon of using a homophobic slur against her friend for her actions.

Mixon responded to the argument and said that it was Molitor’s friend who insulted him by using a racist slur, to which he responded with the homophobic slur.

Following the news of the event, Joe Mixon was suspended from playing football for the entire 2014 season. The trial and procedures of the case ran for almost three years and were finally settled in 2017.

Even though there was a serious case charged against Joe Mixon, his name was included in the 2017 NFL Draft as Mixon was considered one of the best talents at running back.

Football had been a part of Joe Mixon’s life right from his school days. He used to play both basketball and football during his high school days but decided to focus on football after completing high school.

Mixon enrolled at the University of Oklahoma and made it to the football team in 2014. He was suspended for that entire year owing to an assault case charged against him.

After completing his career with the University of Oklahoma, Mixon was selected by the Cincinnati Bengals during the second round of the 2017 NFL Draft. Throughout his career in the NFL, Mixon had always been a part of the Cincinnati Bengals and no other teams.

After the 2014 incident and its settlement in 2017, Mixon had been doing well in his career. Recently in 2021, the Cincinnati Bengals reached Super Bowl LVI and in honor of their achievement, the members of the team received Pro Bowl honors, which Mixon was also a receiver of.

After their achievement, Mixon met the media and he spoke very highly of his team, and teammates, and how they have helped him to make the most of his second chance.

Mixon expressed his thanks to the team and his fellow players for always being there for him as a support.

He also added that he felt very happy for being a part of something special like the NFL and that he felt blessed to be playing on the highest level and also the best game in the history of sports and that he was very fortunate to be in his situation.
