James Gunn addressed rumours that Henry Cavill might play Superman in DC TV shows.
The new CEO of DC films, James Gunn publicly denied the rumours that Henry Cavill’s return as Superman to the DC Extended Universe will be considerably more extensive than first expected and would involve appearances in DC TV shows. And being irritated by these rumours James Gunn responded to these rumours regarding Henry Cavill’s return as Superman on his official Twitter account.
“I’m not sure if you’re purposely lying or being taken advantage of by someone lying to you, but as I’ve stated on here before, NO ONE knows what’s happening at DC studios right now other than me and peter. That would include writing up any new contracts for anyone at this point”. James Gunn Tweeted.
James Gunn is active on Twitter and he wasn’t afraid to share his thoughts and disagreements in the past or now. After taking the position of new CEO of DC films, some might have assumed he wouldn’t be engaging with fans as much as before, but he seems prepared to face all the rumours and debates.
Although Henry Cavill’s first appearance as Superman in ‘Man of Steel may have launched the DC Extended Universe in 2013. It wasn’t obvious if the actor would ever do the red cape again until Justice League’s late theatrical release in 2017. After returning to the role of Superman last month in the ‘Black Adam’s end credit scene, Cavill stated that this was just a very small taste of things to come.”
This statement made by Cavill might have made the fans think that he will return as Superman in DC TV shows.
But this was cleared when Gunn responded and denied the rumours circulating about Henry Cavill’s Future.
Only James Gunn and Henry Cavill are aware of the facts of what occurring in DC films and with Henry Cavill’s Superman.
Most fans of Superman are eagerly waiting for the return of Henry Cavill.
Since the appointment of James Gunn and Peter Safran as the CEOs of DC films on November 1st, they have only been in their positions for a little over a month. The 10-year plan for the DC films, which has a deadline of two months away, has only recently begun to be developed by the CEOs. Cavill already having a deal, especially one that big like the role of Superman would be way too early.
Henry Cavill started his acting career by starring in the film ‘Laguna’ in 2001. The breakthrough of his career was the internationally recognised role of Superman in ‘Man of Steel,’ released in 2013. He continued playing this iconic- superhero role in ‘Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice‘ in 2016 and ‘Justice League,’ in 2017, both directed by Zack Snyder. Cavill’s future as an iconic superhero has been in doubt ever since ‘Justice League’ failed to wow at the box office.
Cavill wasn’t expected to appear in any more Superman movies after his promised appearance in ‘Shazam!’ in 2018 didn’t happen. But he never gave up, he continued to remind in interviews that “ the cape is still in the closet” even as he accepted the title role in Netflix’s ‘The Witcher.’
When the rumours about Henry Cavill’s return as Superman in DC shows claimed that finally, Cavill can take the red cape out of his closet.
But these expectations of the followers were completely denied by James Gunn through his tweet. He argued that nothing will happen in DC films without his or Safran’s knowledge.
‘Shazam!,’ Furry of Gods, ‘The Flash,’ ‘Blue Beetle,’ and ‘Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom,’ are some of the films to be released in 2023 by DC films. Gunn also announced that he is planned to write and direct the entire ‘Peacemaker’ season two, which, like the first season, HBO Max subscribers will be able to watch at a future date.
