Season 31 of the ultimate dance reality show ‘Dancing With The Stars’ came to an end on Monday night, November 21. With four teams competing for the Mirrorball, the show ended with a grand spectacle from the contestants and at the end of the show, TikTok superstar Charli D’Amelio and her dancing partner Mark Ballas were crowned as the winners of season 31 of ‘Dancing with the Stars.’
The show came to its grand finale after a successful and popular run for almost ten weeks. Charlie and Mark made their way to the top after beating some of the popular and favorite names on television such as the former Bachelorette Gabby windy and her partner Val Chmerkovskiy, who became the runner-up of the show.
Among the other contestants, popular actor and TV host Wayne Brady and his partner Witney Carson finished in third place while Shangela, who is a drag queen superstar, and her partner Gleb Savchenko finished-in in fourth place.
The final showdown of the popular reality show was very exciting right from the start as the show kicked off with an electrifying performance by the professional dancers of the show. They danced to the song ‘Everybody Dance’ by Cedric Gervais & Franklin ft. Nile Rodgers.
Following the performance by the dancers, hosts of the show Tyra Banks and Alfonso Ribeiro took the stage. The hosts celebrated the four finalists who captured the minds of judges and audiences at home through their hard work, effort, and talent. They also explained the way in which the final round will take place, which ultimately took us to the winners of the season.
Not just the jaw-dropping performances from the four finalists, the finale episode of the show was filled with many memorable moments as the final featured a recap of the season’s most important moments week-by-week. The effect of this was doubled when all of the contestants who were eliminated from the show returned to the dance floor to perform for one last time.
Amon those appearances, the most notable performance was delivered by Selma Blair and Sasha Farber as Salma had to quit the competition due to some series health issues. It was promised on that day that Salma will make an appearance on the finale night and her performance was mesmerizing and emotional.
The final of the dance reality show took place in two rounds, where each team had o perform two routines. In round one, the contestants were asked to perform a Redemption dance which was chosen by one of the judges for them. In their second round, they were given the freedom to choose and were asked to perform a beloved freestyle.
The final performances of each contestant were top-notch and were their scores. While Shangela and Wayne scored 76 out of 80, Charlie and Gabby landed on perfect 80s. As the scores resulted in a tie, the winners of the show were decided after a verdict, where Charlie and Mark emerged as the winners.
There were many emotional moments on the finale night and two such events that stood out from the rest were the retirement celebrations of two of the show’s major figures. The veteran dancer Len Goodman announced that season 31 will be his last season during the semi-finals of the show.
The final featured a farewell to the show’s legend. The finale night also marked the retirement of Cheryl Burke, who had been a pro dancer on the show for long 26 years. Cheryl Burke stepped away from the show so that she could focus more on other ventures of her, rather than dance.
Charyl also gave a final performance on the floor with Pasha Pashkov and Louis van Amstel, where she received a standing ovation from the audience which left the dancer in tears.
While announcing the winner, host Tyra Banks revealed that it was one of the closest finals in the history of the show. Upon winning the season, Charlie thanked Mark for becoming her new best friend and she also extended her thanks to her mom Heidi for being with her throughout the journey.
