J. Kyle Bass is an American investor and businessman who is credited with the founding of two different firms, Conservation Equity Management and also Hayman Capital management. The former is an equity firm that focuses its operations on environmental sustainability and is based in Texas.
The latter is a hedge fund on global events based in Dallas. He had been active in the field since around 2003 and had been an avid land owner and conservationist. Kyle has based his operations mostly on the state of Texas.
Along with his ventures and operations under it, Bass is also one of the founding members of the Committee on the Present Danger. With his experience in the field and his excellence in performance, Bass is also a life member of the Council on Foreign Relations.
He is a person who has been very critical of the Chinese government. He even went on to call out companies that still engaged in business with China even after coming to know about the human rights abuse in the country during an interview with CNBC.

Kyle Bass, the successful investor was born on September 7, 1969, in Miami, Florida. Bass’s father used to work in Florida as a manager at the Fontainebleau Hotel. The family relocated to Texas later and Bass spent most of his early life in Texas than in Miami. In Texas, his father took up the job of manager at the Dallas Convention and Visitor Bureau.
After completing his school-level education, Bass joined Texas Christian University on a scholarship. Bass completed his education and graduated from the University in 1992. He earned a B.B.A. in finance along with a special concentration in real estate.
Before starting his own firm, Kyle Bass gained his needed experience by working with different firms. After completing his education, Bass worked with Legg Mason, which is also an investment management and asset management firm which has its headquarters in Baltimore. Bass worked as the managing director at the firm.
He also has experience working as the senior managing director at Bear Stearns, which is a New York-based global investment bank and securities trading firm. Bass became the senior managing director when he was just 28 years old, becoming the youngest employee in the history of the company to hold the title.

Gathering experience and improving his knowledge about the field through his work experience, Bass started his own company in 2005 for the first time. He launched Hayman Capital Management in 2005 and he took up the position of the investor manager of the firm.
Bass was able to attract a decent amount from outside investors, which was $28 million and he launched the company along with the $5 million from his own savings.
Kyle Bass testified before the U.S House Financial Services Subcommittee on Capital Markets and Government-Sponsored Enterprise as an expert business in 2007 and in 2010 he testified before the Financial Crisis Inquiry Commission.
With his timely approaches and successful strategies, Bass was able to grow his business to new heights and his business was estimated at a value of $2.3 billion by the end of 2014. But his business took some unexpected turn in 2015 and Bass describes it as one of the worst years for his funds. The company’s discretionary assets reached $423.6 million from around $2 billion in 2019.
