Meta, the parent company of Facebook announces the debut of AI-powered tools in its social media platforms. Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced that this attempt would later see AI personas designed to assist people in different ways. The assistance would be an additional feature of the AI tools across its apps and services.
Zuckerberg mentioned that the company is on a project to develop AI experiences in text in Messenger chat and WhatsApp chat, and experiences with photos in creative Instagram filters and ad formats. There would also be AI experiences in videos and other multi-modals.
He added that the company would have to lay a lot of foundational work then only it can make possible the sharing of futuristic experiences with the users.
As per the initial reports given by the company the new AI team is designed and the leader of the team is Ahmad Al-Dahle who is currently serving as the Vice president of AI and machine learning in Meta. The team would be reporting to Chris Cox, the Chief Product Officer
Al-Dahle has initially an employee at Apple in the company’s special product group.
Meta would be however initiating the experimenting of the text-based AI tools on WhatsApp and Messenger. It is assumed that these AI tools would be conversation bots inspired by the style and mode of functioning of ChatGPT.
These tools would be available for the users to try and use and to give their feedback. If the introduction of the ChatGPT-like AI tools in these platforms hails success then Meta would be moving forward to add these features to its other businesses as well, such as customer support and in the sales field.
