SSI benefits would be boosted up to 140 US Dollars by 33 states. The payment boost received approval and the benefit checks would be issued on December 30.
The range of the payment boost would reportedly be between 73 US Dollars and 140 US Dollars based on whether it is a state payment or federal payment.
The 914 US Dollars federal payment would be more by 73 US Dollars than the initial payment of 841 US Dollars which was mailed out on the first day of this month.
In the light of an approximated analysis, around 70 million U.S. citizens would be able to see an increase of 8.7% in their Social Security benefits and SSI payments in the upcoming year of 2023.
The CPI – W (the Consumer Price Index) released by the Department of Labor measures that the federal benefit rates are directly proportional to the cost of living. That means that when the cost of living increases there would be a hike in the federal rate benefits and vice versa.
The CPI – W is also directly proportional to the graph of inflation. What this means is when there is an increase in inflation the CPI – W also increases. This would ultimately lead to resulting in a higher cost of living.

This change could be understood in a way that, the prices to be paid for goods and services would be higher, on an average basis. These costs could be offset by the cost of living adjustment (COLA).
For a higher number of citizens, the SSI only is deemed as not sufficient enough to pay for their basic necessities. Although many of the states supplement the checks.
Many of the beneficiaries of the Supplemental Security Income (SSI) could expect to receive this payment boost.
