This new year, K-pop is set to live in a new era as YG Entertainment, the South Korean entertainment company behind the famed bands BLACKPINK, BIGBANG, and WINNER, has launched a brand new girl group named, “BABYMONSTER.”
The record label marked the birth of the band by dropping a teaser on their new Youtube channel on Dec. 31, 2022, via a video titled “YG MOVEMENT.”
It is confirmed that just like the global sensational Korean boyband BTS, BABYMOSNTER will also contain 7 iconic members, as their foremost silhouetted image confirmed they are seven.
This set of seven incredibly talented girls was chosen after an array of auditions. Every applicant was asked to compete with equally talented hundreds of other opponents. Each of the selected members is consecutively introduced to the world via their individual performance clip on the social media platform.
“They are the babies with YG genes,” said Yang Hyun Suk, the founder of YG. Just like how they have shocked him, he hopes “they become stars that will shock this world.”
After BLACKPINK, Baby Monster is the first girl group to be formed by the agency in the past seven years.
The 15-year-old Haram is the first member of BABYMONSTER
YG Entertainment has made Haram the first official member of their latest girl group, BABYMOSNTER.
The teen singer’s live rendition of Mario’s single, “Let Me Love You” was uploaded to YouTube on Jan. 12, 2023. She literally astounded every single listener with the sweetness of her voice.
However, the fans are looking forward to knowing whether Haram would be the face of the band as she was first revealed to be a member of it.
The other four members were disclosed immediately
- Ahyeon
Ahyeon, who is born Jung Hyeon, was selected second to the girl group Baby Monster. She was also introduced through the official YouTube channel of the agency.
Ayheon mesmerized the world with her unique version of Saweetie’s “Sway With Me.” Viewers are left numb after watching her flawlessly taking over from some fantastically high notes to a few mind-blogging rapping.
She is definitely going to deliver a bunch of her masterpieces to the world and perhaps, BABYMONSTER is only a mere medium to her forthcoming success.
- Chiquita
Chiquita is one of the two Thai members of the group. She delivered a promising performance with her cover of JJ Lin’s track titled “Bedroom.” But it’s shocking how Chiquita is only 13 and is more talented than many of the other prevailing singers in today’s generation.
She has been with YG Entertainment for more than a year now. Within just 24 hours, her performance had gained over 3.6 million views, which is an extraordinary achievement for a budding star.
Since she is already destined to be with BABYMONSTER, it seems her destiny is going to change dramatically and drastically.
- Asa
Asa is a 16-year-old Japanese performer. She was introduced with her version of “Look Alive” by Joyner Lucas, and the one track in her vocals has successfully created an impact on the viewers.
- Pharita
Pharita is the second Thai member of the BABYMONSTER. Her rendition of “What Other People Say,’ by Demi Lovato and Sam, Fischer has left the world speechless, and the fact that she is only 17 adds to the astonishment.
However, Pharotya is the second oldest member of the girl group, and she is fluent in both English and her mother tongue, Thai.
The last Korean member of BABYMONSTER is Rora
Rora, 14, who made her presence count at the string of auditions made for the next best girl group after BLACKPINK, is the last Korean member in the group.
She was welcomed to the group through her own unique delivery of Kiana Lede’s 2020 track, “Forfeit.”

The last BABYMONSTER member was revealed to be the eldest among all
The label recently publicized the name of the last BABYMOSNTER member, Ruka, who is a 20-year-old fascinating performer of Japanese descent.
The agency has been dip-feeding information about its newest girl group, and one of the most recent revelations was the name of its seventh member.
She was introduced with a cover for G- Eazy and P- Lo’s 2018 single ‘Feel Good,” and Kid Ink, Maino, and Honey Cocaine’s 2014 release “Gwola.” Both the songs acquired enough attention that she deserved.
Not only is Ruka the eldest member of the girl group, but she has also received more training than anyone else in the BABYMONSTER as the agency has been keeping her under its wing for nearly 5 years.
Their stunning dance performance has assured an unmatched standard to the girl group
Following the individual performance videos of all members, including Rora, Ruka, Ayheon, Pharita, Asra, Chiquita, and Haram, the group rolled out a dance performance featuring Ayheon, Asa, Ruka, Rora, and Haram, and that was remarkable.
The performance of Young Moeny’s “Senile” was choreographed by YGX dancer Lee Jung, who is better known as the star of Street Woman Fighter.
What the idols have got to say about the budding stars
“All seven members complement each other well,’” said BLACKPINK’s Lisa, when fellow bandmate Jennie opined, “They’re very good overall.”
Moreover, the seven members are expected to be the “equivalent of 10 of BLACKPINK’s Jennie,” added YG Foods Chief Executive Noh Hee Young.
The seven stars have already occupied a major place in the hearts of millions, and it is certain that they will be billions in no time.
According to Akmu’s Lee Chan-hyuk, “singers like them are hard to find in Korea.”
