The release of “The Crown’s” fifth season is only a few short weeks away! Netflix made the announcement that the launch date of Season Five of “The Crown” will be November 9, 2022, on Saturday, September 24.
Since the release of the fourth season of the drama on Netflix almost two years ago, viewers have been patiently waiting to witness the next chapter in the lives of the royal family play out on television.
After Queen Elizabeth II passed away on September 8 at the age of 96, anticipation for the return of the show that has won multiple Emmy awards increased.
The monarch who held her throne for the greatest period of time “passed away quietly” at Balmoral Castle in Scotland, where she was surrounded by her family. The story of her legacy and that of her family’s continues to be told on the Netflix show “The Crown.”
The events of Season Four took place towards the tail end of the 1970s, and actor Olivia Colman, the winner of an Emmy, played the role of Her Majesty. It was also the year that the queen’s eldest son, then Prince Charles (Josh O’Connor), married a young Lady Diana Spencer (Emma Corrin), and it was the year that Margaret Thatcher (Gillian Anderson), Britain’s first female Prime Minister, led the country into the Falklands War.
The fifth season of this show is almost here, and here is everything we know about it.
When Will The Fifth Season Begin Airing?
Netflix made the announcement that the launch date of Season Five of “The Crown” will be November 9, 2022, on Saturday, September 24.
During its Tudum worldwide fan event, the streaming giant also previewed the new season by showing a teaser trailer.
The new clip shows Princess Diana, played by Elizabeth Debicki, and Prince Charles, played by Dominic West, in separate scenes as the news of their divorce is made public.
Imelda Staunton, who plays Queen Elizabeth II on “The Crown,” sent a video message to Netflix in September 2021, confirming that the program would be renewed for a fifth season. The message was captured on set, and it was uploaded to the streaming service.
What Will The Fifth Season Be About?
The fifth season will concentrate on the life of the royal family from the early to the middle of the 1990s. It’s likely that the story will center on the marital strife between Charles and Diana: In 1992, the couple divorced, and the following year, in 1996, Diana died in a horrific vehicle accident. They had been apart since 1992.
To bring to life the royals of that era, a whole fresh cast of actors was sought out to play the roles.
In addition, the events of the season take place during the time that John Major was serving as Prime Minister of England (1990–1997).
The teaser for Season 5 depicts a dysfunctional household as well as a significant amount of Diana.
The first official teaser for the fifth season of “The Crown” shows the queen speaking out about the various scandals involving her family, particularly the marriage between Charles and Diana.
On the album cover for “Bittersweet Symphony,” the Queen informs her son, “I don’t think it’s my behavior that’s jeopardizing its survival.” “Bittersweet Symphony” is the name of the band.
Other scenes show Diana having a difficult time complying with her directive to be “quiet,” Diana wearing the dress she wore for her retribution, and Diana being interviewed on Panorama. A great deal of Diana.
Who Will Be Appearing In The Fifth Season Of ‘The Crown’?
Imelda Staunton, known for her roles in “Harry Potter” and “Downton Abbey,” will play Queen Elizabeth in the upcoming fifth season. She will take over the role from Claire Floy and Olivia Colman, who previously portrayed younger versions of the monarch.

Staunton expressed her excitement at taking on the part in a video that was published by Netflix one year ago. “My stomach, meanwhile, is doing somersaults,” she added.
The role of Prince Charles, who later became King Charles III, will be played by Dominic West. He is the oldest child of Elizabeth and Prince Philip, making him the apparent heir to the throne.
