Substack CEO Chris Best Here's Everything To Know

Chris Best, the CEO of Substack, has expressed dissatisfaction after hearing rumors that Elon Musk’s Twitter recently removed tweets with Substack links.

In an interview with The Verge, Best expressed his excitement about launching the blogging website’s new notes feature, which lets users publish brief information and discuss ideas. This feature is comparable to Twitter Notes.

Writers began reporting that links to the blogs they published on Twitter were restricted on the network the day after subscription-based Subsstack debuted Notes.

According to Twitter users, when they clicked on tweets with Substack links, they saw a warning that the link might not be secure. According to Substack, authors who incorporate tweets into their blog entries have encountered problems.

Best revealed to The Verge that Substack began to get complaints about the broken links. He claimed that Twitter reacted very strongly after viewing Substack Notes as a threat.

According to Best, they are slowing down the links. They wrongly labeled them as dangerous and even tried to shut down conversation on the term substack. Best added that they were quite disappointed by everything that happened.

Best told The Verge that there had been quite a strong backlash and that many people, including him, believed Twitter had made the wrong choice.

On April 8, Musk claimed in a tweet that Twitter has never blocked Substack links. He referred to Substack Notes as a Twitter clone and asserted that the company was trying to download a huge portion of the Twitter database to bootdisk.

Best informed The Verge that Musk’s assertion was false. By April 8, he claimed, Substack links on Twitter would remain operating.

You might be wondering to know more about the CEO of Substack. If so, keep reading the article. Here we’ll discuss everything that you need to know about Chris Best.

Who Is Chris Best?

Chris Best is the co-founder and CEO of Substack, a subscription publishing service for an independent writer. By empowering writers to control their work and relationships with their readers, Substack improved the future of writing.

Chris was the co-founder and CTO of the mobile chat app Kik before joining Substack. From 2009 to 2017, Chris worked to scale Kik and created a product that has more than 300 million users.

Chris Best was always interested in how people interacted, so even as the CTO at Kik Interactive, Inc., he made sure that the chat app helped two people who were going to start a conversation get acquainted.

He co-founded Substack, a company that distributes paid email newsletters, as a result of his dedication to the creation of a more engaging platform. As individuals learn to value their time and spend money on worthwhile reading, he predicts that the model will predominate in the media sector.

Chris Best: A Quick Peek Into His Personal Life

Chris Best is a 35-year-old citizen of the United States. He was born and raised in Virginia, USA. Best was born into a family of two very hardworking parents who were public school teachers. Best had a sister who also worked as a teacher.

After completing his schooling, Best enrolled at the University of Waterloo in 2005. He graduated from the University of Waterloo with a degree in Applied Science in system Design Engineering in 2010.

Chris must have been a smart student because the University of Waterloo is considered the most difficult Canadian institution to get into because applicants must have solid STEM credentials to get accepted.

While studying at the university, Chris Best developed a music player for the Blackberry device before co-founding Kik in 2009.

Best also mentions Y Combinator in his list of the places where he studied in 2018. The Y Combinator is a business that was founded to give entrepreneurs seed money.

Even though Chris Best is familiar to many Americans out there, the personal details about his marriage, children, and family are mostly unknown. There is no information available regarding Best’s marital status. It is not known whether Chris Best is dating anyone or not.

Chris Best: Founding Substack

Chris spent eight years with Kik Interactive, Inc., before quitting in January 2017. He became friends with McKenzie there, who worked in the communication division. The two men had a common objective, to fix the breakdown they had seen in the media industry, even though Chris departed the company.

Jairaj Sethi was one among them who was in charge as a developer. Chris Best had worked with him at Kik, so they pursued him to join their new venture as a third founder.

Social media has emerged as the primary channel for disinformation because of the people who use it hiding behind their keyboards. Chris considered that to be a serious issue because internet advertising is now the major topic and social media account owners are making enormous sums of money.

He requested McKenzie’s input since he intended to write an article to address the problem. Instead of searching for an ideal website to publish easily, they decided it would be best to create a business to assist in solving the issue. By having readers sign up for their newsletter, writers could be inspired to keep writing.

All these were behind Best’s effort in co-founding Substack in 2017. Substack was one of the businesses that benefited from the COVID-19 pandemic.

Chris Best: Net Worth

The CEO and co-founder of Substack are supposed to have an estimated net worth of around $5 million as of 2023. He has amassed a decent fortune by being a part of Kik Interactive Inc., and Substack.
