In a similar manner, the New York Times found out that the majority of the details mentioned by Santos were a lie and that he was also charged with check fraud in Brazil.
While many people including her close relatives, old roommates, and friends have come up against her claims about her past life, Anna has stated in an interview that the report in The Washington Post contained several mischaracterizations and factual errors.
Anna Paulina Luna – Early Life
Born on May 6, 1989, Anna Paulina Mayerhofer is the daughter of George Mayerhofer and Monica Luna. While her mother was of Mexican descent, her father George was of Mexican and German descent.
Anna, who earlier used her father’s surname started to identify with her mother’s second name Luna only recently. Anna remarked that the change in her name was a homage to her mother’s side of the family. Even though George and Monica had Anna together, they both never got married.
There were instances where Anna recalled incidents of her father calling her from jail and also being imprisoned multiple times for not paying child support. In contrast with Anna’s memory of her father,
The Washington Post reported that there were no official records for the imprisonment of George Mayerhofer in any of the institutions like the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, The Orange County Corrections Department, and also the Santa Ana Jail.
The Post also mentioned that they contacted Anna’s office but they declined the request to confirm.
According to Luna’s statement, she attended six different high schools before graduating. After completing her high school education, Luna enlisted in the United States Air Force.
She served in the position of an airfield manager first at the Whiteman Air Force Base in Missouri and later in Florida.
