The parties are DPP (Democratic Progressive Party), TSP (Taiwan Statebuilding Party), TSU (Taiwan Solidarity Party), SDP (Social Democratic Party), and TCA (Taiwan Constitution Association).
It was in 2004 that Tsai Ing-Wen joined DPP. In the same year, she was the party’s official nomination to run in the legislative election, which she won to become the legislator-at-large.
Later in 2006, she got appointed as the vice president of the Executive Yuan, an executive branch of Taiwan. At the same time, she also took responsibility as the Chairwoman of the Consumer Protection Commission.
She has served as the Chairwoman of the DPP for a total of three terms. The first term was from 2008 to 2012, the second term was from 2014 to 2018 and the third term and final term was from 2020 to 2022. The position was resigned by her relating to the 2022 Taiwanese local elections.

Tsai Ing-Wen: Qualifications and Academic Graph
She is a well-educated person who has graduated from the world’s best colleges. She graduated bachelors with an LLB degree from the National Taiwan University.
After that Tsai went on to pursue a master’s degree in law and graduated LLM from Cornell Law School. She, then, proceeded to complete a Ph.D. from the London School of Economics.
She was the daughter of Tsai Chieh-Sheng, her father, and Chang Chin-Fong, her mother. Her father was a businessman who ran an auto repair shop and her mother was a homemaker. She has 10 siblings and was the youngest of them all.
