One Piece is a Live-action adaptation from Netflix, where Inaki Godoy plays the iconic character Monkey D. Luffy.
In a recent interview with The Laterals, Inaki Godoy talks about the struggles and pressures he has to go through to enact the iconic character. “There were times when it was very hard, and the pressure of it all got to me,” Godoy said.
Inaki continued, “But you know if you continue playing Luffy for a long time, his spirit takes over you, and somehow you sometimes forget that you’re working on this massive production because you start to have fun like him.” The Laterals posted the conversation on Instagram, where they collaborated with Inaki Godoy.
In another Instagram post, Inaki talks about the fact that he feels privileged to be a part of the show, but as everything has two sides of its own, in the same way playing luffy brought great challenges to Inaki.
He tells, “Luffy and One Piece pushes me to be the best version of myself, and it has changed my life in many ways,” he wrote. “I’m so grateful that I get to be your live action Luffy, and It makes me happy that more people around the world can get to know this super awesome captain and his crew.”
Netflix boss Ted Sarandos also has got to tell a tale about their search for luffy. He said, “one of the most difficult casting challenges in the history of our original programming.” He added, “And he was right under our nose, right in our talent family.
We discovered him a couple of years ago and had him in this great show in our Mexican series called Who Killed Sara?, and then we were able to cast him in this, and now he’s a global superstar.”
Monkey D. Luffy Plot
Since so much is being talked about Inaki Godoy playing luffy, let’s know a bit of the plot for which Godoy has to go through all the pressures, as per Comicbook.
“As a child, Monkey D. Luffy was inspired to become a pirate by listening to the tales of the buccaneer “Red-Haired” Shanks. But Luffy’s life changed when he accidentally ate the Gum-Gum Devil Fruit and gained the power to stretch like rubber…at the cost of never being able to swim again!
Years later, still vowing to become the king of the pirates, Luffy sets out on his adventure…one guy alone in a rowboat, in search of the legendary “One Piece,” said to be the greatest treasure in the world…”
