Lidia Poet – Early Life And Education
Lidia Poet was a young child born into the Waldensian family, which was a very wealthy family even back then. Poet was born in 1855 and she spent almost her entire childhood at Valle Germanasca, Turin.
Poet attended and graduated from High school when he was in Italy. Later, she went to Switzerland, where she persuaded her higher education. Poet earned her license to work as a High school teacher from the College of the Misses of the Bonneville in Aubonne, Switzerland.
Later, Poet completed her graduation in law. She did her graduation project on subjects like the state of women in society and also about their right to cast vote.
Lidia Poet – Career As A Lawyer
The application of Lidia Poet caused quite a stir at the bar. Lidia received 8 votes in favor of her application and 4 votes against her.
Two lawyers also resigned from the bar just after she submitted the application. As Lidida won the majority votes, she was admitted into the bar on August 9, 1883, making her the first female advocate in Italy.
Even though she was admitted to the bar, the Attorney General of Italy challenged the decision by appealing it. The verdict was unfavorable to Lidia and she was disbarred from the bar on November 11, 1883.
Even though she did not appear at the court, Lidia continued to practice her profession as a lawyer along with her brother. The decision regarding her position at the bar changed after the enactment of Law 1176 of 1919.
The law allowed women to enter some public offices and she was finally able to re-register as a lawyer at the Turin Bar Association.
Lidia Poet – Family
Lidia Poet was born into the Waldensian family. The family was rich and Lidia did not have to face difficulties like poverty and other hardships as most of the men in her family were lawyers and they were paid well.
Lidia’s father was also an advocate and the series portrays Lidia as someone who did not share a very good relationship with her father.
While most men in the Poet’s family took up the profession of a lawyer, Lidida’s father was against her choosing the field and her choice of profession. He wanted Lidia to drop the job and move on to something else.
As for Lidia’s mother, the profession of a lawyer was one that of a man and if God wanted her to be an advocate, then she should have made her a man. Lidia’s mother implied that if she continued the profession of a lawyer, then she was moving against the will of God.

Lidia Poet – Relationship
Lidia Poet was never married until she passed away at the age of 93. While there is no proof or source to claim that she was married, it can be concluded that Lidia was unmarried throughout her life.
Just because Lidia Poet was not married, it does not mean that she had no other relationships during her days.
