Kyler Murray Explains Heated Argument With Kliff Kingsbury!
“The clock was running down and we couldn’t have got off the play that we were trying to run,” Kyler Murray said. “So, it was, I guess it’s my fault. I’ll take it.” Murray continued to criticize Kingsbury as he made his way to the sideline.
Where DeAndre Hopkins, Arizona wide receiver, stepped in to mediate the conflict between the quarterback and the head coach. “He’s real animated over there on the sidelines sometimes,” Murray remarked.
NFL fans criticized the quarterback on social media for his outburst and expressed their displeasure: “What happens when you pay a child $250 million” – a user tweeted. Not his first time, Murray has been in the news frequently over the past year.
Since his agent publicly pressed the Cardinals to sign the quarterback to a long-term deal. As a result, Murray agreed to a five-year deal back in July for $230.5 million, with $160 million guaranteed.
Coming to the incident, Murray denied that Kingsbury was shouting at him through the earpiece on his helmet. “I just see the antics,” Kyler Murray said. Head Kingsbury too downplayed the exchange by calling it a difference of opinion.
“He said I didn’t look good on TV acting that fiery,” Kingsbury quipped. “I don’t know, guess it’s a Gen Z thing. ‘You’re on TV so calm down. I like showing emotion.’ On the following play, rookie running back Keaontay Ingram of the Cardinals scored from the 2-yard line.
After running for a career-high 92 yards, Eno Benjamin scored the 2-point conversion to tie the score at 14. “We’re good,” Murray expressed. “We’re going to make it right. We ended up scoring so that was good. But, yeah, that’s all I was saying, just chill out.
“Doesn’t faze me or I don’t think it fazes him. We’re just trying to win. In a moment type of thing. After that we’re good.” Same as he did in the field, DeAndre Hopkins brought the pressure further down through his after-game remarks:
Kyler Murray performed admirably on Monday, completing 20 of 29 passes for 204 yards and a touchdown while also gaining an additional 30 yards on seven carries. Most significantly, he made 10 passes to Hopkins for 104 yards.
Helping the Cardinals ended an eight-game home losing streak. The Cardinals’ victory on Thursday was their first at home in 361 days, an accomplishment the former Heisman Trophy winner called “crazy.”
Forty-two points, the most they’ve scored under Kingsbury, who was hired in 2019, and the most since Week 17 of the 2016 campaign, helped them end their losing skid. “Excited for the guys, no doubt,” Kingsbury quipped.
“Definitely been something they’ve had to answer about for a long time and especially to do it coming off a couple [of] losses and going into a longer time off for the game, I think it came at a good time.”
