Rumiko Kitayama and Clifford Kitayama are members of Kurt Kitayama’s family. He and his brother Daniel grew up in Chico, California, where Kurt resides.

Kurt Kitayama parents, who shared a love of sports, encouraged him to play the game when he was five.

Kitayama has always been an athletic phenomenon. He spent much of his formative years on the golf course, but it was never his first choice. He had dreams of becoming a professional basketball player.

While attending Chico High School, Kurt starred as a point guard on the basketball team. He wanted to play professional basketball but gave up when he discovered he was only standard height.

The 30-year-old started playing on the PGA Tour as a professional. In March of 2023, at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, he bested Rory McIlroy for his first of many PGA Tour victories.

Clifford and Rumiko Kitayama are thrilled to have welcomed and raised their son, Kurt.

However, his parents avoid the spotlight that follows their famous son. The golfer’s older brother, also a golfer, spent two years at Hawaii-Hilo.

Kurt’s parents take great pride in their role as foster parents to two of the world’s best. The golfer’s family has always been there to encourage him and inspire his passion for the game.

His loved ones are probably gathered around the TV, rooting for him to win the Wells Fargo Championship. Seven of Kurt’s fourteen fairways were hit in the current tournament, while he hit thirteen of the eighteen greens.

Kurt Kitayama’s golfing prowess is the result of years of practice. Before he even made the UNLV golf team, he had already won multiple tournaments on the junior circuit. Kitayama received an honourable mention for All-American status during his senior year of college.

Kitayama turned professional in 2015 after completing his studies at UNLV. He has since participated in several mini-tours and development tours in the United States and Asia. After his inaugural year on the Asian Development Tour (ADT) in 2017, winning twice, he was promoted to the Asian Tour for 2018.

Kitayama won the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open, an Asian Tour event, in his third career tournament. Later that year, he repeated his success at the Panasonic Open India. Kitayama played full-time on the European Tour in 2019, thanks to his status as an Asian Tour member.

Kurt Kitayama Childhood

Kitayama was the youngest of four children in a loving family in Chico, California. Clifford and Rumiko raised two champions: him and his sister. 

According to his family’s oral history, the 2023 Arnold Palmer Invitational winner comes from a mixed Japanese and American heritage. 

His mum, Rumiko, moved to the States when she was young but was born in Japan. Clifford eventually wed, and the couple had children named Kurt and Daniel. 

Kurt Kitayama has not spoken publicly about his romantic life because he is single.

Kitayama stated in an interview that he hopes to one day play professional golf in Japan and the rest of Asia. He also expressed his deep appreciation for the Japanese culture he contributes to.
