Kristin was born on July 24, 1968, in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, United States. She was adopted by Junie Smith Chenoweth and Jerry Morris Chenoweth when she was five years old. They only gave her the name Kristin Dawn Chenoweth.
She went to Broken Arrow Senior High School, where she used to participate in school plays and also sing gospel songs. Kristin went to Oklahoma City University.
