The People’s Court and Judge Mathis, both of the shows by Warner Bros are on their end seasons after a running time that lasted for more than two decades.
The People’s Court has been on the air for 26 seasons, and Judge Mathis has been on the air for 24 seasons. Both were daytime shows. The shows were canceled by Warner Bros, the American entertainment company.
The decision by Warners Bros has caused widespread discussions. It was rumored that the cancellation of the shows was due to tax reasons. The rumors were addressed by the company by appointing a spokesperson.
An executive member from Warner Bros Discovery U.S. Networks Group, Kathleen Finch said in a statement that the cancellation decisions were not taken for tax reasons.
She continued that when two companies are merged together, the companies need to assess what they have along with the things that fit their current strategy. Therefore the company has a lot of changes that need to be taken including the now-made decision which comes as a pin for many like the cast as well as the audience.
Finch further said that these decisions were not taken lightly and that all the content craters were provided with a proper explanation. As per the statement, it was known that the shows have been shut down owing to the reason of the declining nature of the daytime syndication landscape.
An observed pattern in canceling shows started in the August of last year, 2022 with the cancellation of shows such as Batgirl and Scoob!: Holiday Hunt. These shows had completed shooting and were about to be aired on HBO Max. Other shows that got removed from the streaming platform were The Nevers and Westworld.
There is a report that Warner Bros Discovery is evaluating each show one by one which means that more shows might be canceled in the coming days.
Although this was not the first time a success running a courtroom show got sacked. All set to sunset after the 21st season is the courtroom drama, Dr. Phil.
Television audiences witnessed the cancellation of many other beloved and popular shows, even The Ellen DeGeneres Show. Some of the shows on getting removed from the streaming platform are not available to watch anywhere but some are available on YouTube.
