Idols SA 2021: Berry Trytsman Wins Over Karabo Mathe

In the competition’s finale, Berry beat Karabo Mathe as well as hundreds of thousands of hopefuls who entered the music show’s 17th season.

KAMPALA | LIFESTYLE UGANDA (https://lifestyleug.com/) — Berry Trytsman, a South African singer, was named the winner of this year’s Idols SA competition on Sunday, 21 November 2021.

  • Together with the rest of the top 5, Berry scored a record deal with Kalawa Jazmee Records.

Mzansi Magic’s television show Idols is based on the hit British show Pop Idol. The show showcases South Africa’s best young singers through a contest.

Berry Trytsman beat out Karabo Mathe to win Idols SA 2021 at the competition’s finale including thousands of hopefuls who competed in Season 17 of the music competition.

A total of 12.5 million votes were cast this week, enabling Berry to become an instant millionaire as a result of Mzansi Magic, Old Mutual, Darling Hair and Vodacom.

Berry signed a record deal with Kalawa Jazmee Records , an independent record label based in South Africa, along with the rest of the top 5.

A Renault Kiger valued over 269 000 ZAR and 100 000 ZAR in Truworths fashion vouchers were also awarded to Berry at the Idols SA 2021.

Her prizes also included a Bachelor of Business Administration bursary valued at over 260 000 ZAR from Regenesys Business School and musical equipment valued at 85 000 ZAR from Yamaha, as well as a Samsung Galaxy Fold 3 with a Vodacom Red 100GB plan.

Karabo Mathe , who auditioned for the competition for the first time in Season 12 as a 17-year-old, won over 200,000 ZAR in prizes, including 50,000 ZAR in an Old Mutual Money Account.

Vodacom gave her 50 000 ZAR in cash and Truworths fashion vouchers valued at 50 000 ZAR, and Regenesys Business School provided her with a bursary to study Higher Certificate in Business Management worth 87 000 ZAR.

Nomsa Philiso, director of local entertainment channels at M-Net, said the talent had been exceptional: “Congratulations to both Berry and Karabo for making it this far in the competition,”

Performing on the Idols SA stage was not Berry’s first time, she competed in Season 6 of the competition in 2010 and reached the top 30 before being discarded.

Judge Unathi Nkayi remarked that she was an inspiration to those who doubted themselves often because of this fact.

Musa Keys, Sir Trill, Mafikizolo and Oskido were some of the local artists who performed at the event, which featured alumnus from Idols SA Season 16 Ndoni and Meez.

Zama Khumalo, the winner of Season 16 Idols SA, performed “Is’thunzi” , a track from her debut album “In the Beginning,” while the rest of this year’s top ten performed once more.
