Norm Snead, the former National Football League (NFL) quarterback, died at the age of 84 in Naples, Florida, on January 14, 2024.
Who was Norm Snead?
Norman Bailey Snead was an American football player, born on 31 July, 1939, in Halifax County, Virginia, United States. Snead was interested in sports from his high school days only and was excellent at games of basketball, football and baseball.
Snead continued his game play in college also due to his love for sports and thus, he decided to make a career in the field of sports only. Norm Snead graduated from Wake Forest University.
Norm got linked to National Football League and his professional career stayed for 16 long years. Norm saw soaring success in 1960-70Snead played for several teams as Washington Redskins, Philadelphia Eagles, Minnesota Vikings, New York Giants and San Francisco 49ers.
There were a lot of awards and accolades on the name of star player Norm Snead, as he was named the second team all-Atlantic coast conference quarterback in 1958, in 1959 and 1960 Snead earned first-team all-ACC honors, in 1960, Snead was named second-team all-American as a quarterback by UPI and the Football Writers Association of America.
All these are simply enough to mention how big and talented Norm Snead was. After retirement as a player, Snead became a football coach, owing to his passion for the game. On January 14, 2024, the legend Norm Snead took his last breathe.
What Happened to Him?
Norm Snead’s death was confirmed by his wife Susan Patsel, though she did not mention the exact cause of his death. There are speculations that Norm died as he was going to several prolonged illness, which finally grew so much, that it took his life.
He has a notable career for which he shall always be remembered by the football community and beyond, thus, on hearing the news of the player’s demise, the foolball industry mourned to have lost a legend.
