Who Is Ethel Cain?
Ethel Cain is an American singer and songwriter.
She was born in March in Tallahassee, Florida, and grew up in Perry, Florida. She was raised with her three other siblings in a Southern Baptist family.
Cain was introduced to the world of music through church choirs from a very young age itself as her father was a deacon. She began taking professional classic piano lessons at the age of eight.
Cain has revealed that as a child her musical influences were the Steve Miller Band, Karen Carpenter, and a number of music linked with Christianity. She was inspired by country music, classic rock, alternative music, and gospel music.
Cain came out of the closet and acknowledged her gay sexuality at the age of 12. This led to the breakage of her ties with the church at the age of 16.
On turning 20 years old Cain openly came out as a transgender woman before the public.
She had answered questions about this many times before and on one such occasion, she recalled that it was made clear to everyone that she was not like other people and that whenever she started to develop she started to come into her own as a trans woman.
She had to fight the entire society to establish her sexual identity as she said that it was like a divided house and it was her versus her whole town.
Although she has abandoned church she still gives importance to the values that she was raised upon.
In 2022 Cain stated via a Tumblr post that she does not follow the religion of Christianity and the religion does not matter to her; however, she has chosen to abide by the values on which she was raised.
Earlier to that she in an interview said that she still thinks of herself as Southern Baptist and that whether she likes it or not god has and would always be a huge part of her life; she has always been surrounded by it no matter he was being used as a comforting figure or a threat.
She does not think of it as something that someone could just walk away from. Like many other artists, she also believes in the power and presence of eternal power and creator but she does not comply with the systems and the traditions that are being followed and enforced by the institution of the church.

She is 24 years old. Ethel Cain is currently settled in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Cain’s debut 2022 album Preacher’s Daughter was globally acclaimed by fans and critics and is considered as one of the best albums of the year. The singles in the album are Gibson Girl, Strangers, and American Teenager.
American Teenager is the single that is currently in the headlines as it made it all the way year-end playlist of Barack Obama, the former President of the United States of America.
The premise of her album is focused on themes such as domestic violence and religion. Post the President’s mention her album and songs are at the top of the trend.
