After being instated as the head of the DC Studios, James Gunn and Peter Safran are all set to bring in the new changes planned for the studio. Even though there are many speculations about the changes that will be made in the DC world, Gunn and Safran have not given much away about their plans.
Without revealing much about the changes, they have revealed that their goal for DC is complete and more information will be given out in the coming year.
As of now, the duo has only talked about a single upcoming project which will be a movie based on Superman and the movie will look into the younger life of the Superhero.
The information about the future of DC was shared by James Gunn in a series of Tweets. In one of his tweets, Gunn mentioned that he and Safran couldn’t be more over the moon, about their upcoming plans. Even though these plans sound great to DC fans, the good news was also accompanied by a piece of sad news.
In one of those tweets, Gunn confirmed that as the upcoming Superman man movie will feature his younger self, actor Henry Cavil will not be playing his iconic role in the movie.
While his cameo in the latest DC movie Balck Adam and his withdrawal from Netflix’s hit series Witcher speculated that he was getting ready for another Superman movie, fans were let down after this tweet from Gunn.
Gunn also mentioned that while he and Cavil will not be working on a new Man of Steel movie but he had some discussions with Cavil and stated that they shared some exciting possibilities to work together in the future.
One of the main arguments that seem to circulate regarding the new changes in DC is about the fate of Snyderverse. Gunn and Safrar are yet to confirm their stand about the Syndeverdse -whether or not to do away with it completely- which puts the fate of another Justice League movie also at stake.
From the tweets of Peter Gunn, it can be understood that there will not be a second part for Man of Steel and also the reports regarding another Snyderverse movie like Wonder Woman 3 also seem to share the same fate.
According to the words of director Patty Jenkins, there is nothing that she could do that would move the film forward. This seemingly confirms that the movie also will not have another part.
As for the Superman movie, it will be written by James Gunn and he considers the film as a very integral part of his take over at DC. Even though the movie will be written by him, there are no reports that confirm he will direct it. As of now, no director or actor is being cast for the movie.
Just a speck of their new plans has been revealed by Gunn and Safran and fans will have to wait a little bit longer to have a clear picture of where the duo is taking DC.
It was one of the latest moves by DC to bring in James Gunn and Peter Safran and instate them as the co-Chairpersons and the co-CEO of the DC Studios and they were granted control over films, animations, and television projects which were based on characters from DC comics.
The two started working in their new roles on November 1, 2022. As Gunn has a history of working with Marvel Studios, one of the biggest rivals of DC, the deal also makes sure that Gunn stays exclusive to DC studios except for the commitment made to Disney earlier.
James Gunn wrote and directed some of the biggest hits for Marvel Studios like the three volumes of their movie Guardians of the Galaxy.
He also served as the executive producer of the hit movies Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: End Game. Bringing James Gunn who has such massive experience in creating hot superhero movies was an intelligent move by DC to make their presence stronger and known at the box office.

While some of the recent movies, including Black Adam, failed to reach the expected range, DC is expecting to restore its glory and take on its rival studios with the new changes.
Not only Marvel Studios, but James Gunn also has a history with DC Studios. The 2021 film Suicide Squad which was released as a standalone sequel to the 2016 Suicide Squad was written and directed by James Gunn for DC.
The movie featured a star cast that included Margot Robbie, Viola Davis, John Cena, Sylvester Stallone, and many more. The movie also failed in delivering a successful performance at the box office.
The release of the movie on HBO Max along with the effects of the pandemic led to the underperformance of the film, according to some critics.
