Just like the name suggests, the Game Awards 2022 aimed at honoring the best video games of the year. The event was held on December 8, 2022, at the Microsoft Theatre in Los Angeles.

The man behind the Award is Geoff Keighley, who is a noted Canadian video game journalist and also a television personality. Heighley is the official creator and producer of the Awards and the event that took place on Thursday was hosted by him too.
The event was a grand ceremony with Sydnee Goodman hosting the pre-show ceremony. The event was also live-streamed across around 40 digital platforms. This year’s award included a new category named Best Adaptation Award which aimed at media that were adapted from video games.
The game developed by the Santa Monica Studio, God of War Ragnarok was one of the prominent games for the show gaining more than six nominations. Elden Ring, the action role-playing game developed by FromSoftware won the Game of the Year Award.
