Starter pokemon are some of the most popular in the franchise, whether it is from the first trio to the last. Even if you keep adding more pokemon to your journey, you would agree that your starter pokemon is your best pal.

Generation 1: Bulbasaur, Squirtle, and Charmander
It was a trio that started it all. These are the most popular Pokemon ever created. These are the mainstay characters in the franchise, and they keep getting featured in many Pokemon titles.
Some players aren’t aware that the popular Pikachu is a generation 1 character; in fact, it is the only option in Pokemon Yellow that was released after the original games of other red, blue, and green characters were shown.
Generation 2: Chikorita, Totodile, and Cyndaquil
The second generation of the Pokemon Trio is not as popular as the first, but we have to admit that it is also a wonderfully designed pack of characters.
There are many fans that tend to gravitate towards totodiles or cyndaquiles because of their final evolutions. But in the end, each starter is liked by a majority of people in the community.

It was in generation three that things actually began to change for the Pokemon franchise. This generation has hands-down the most renowned titles when it comes to starter Pokemon. On one hand, we have popular starters in Froakie; we have Fennekin as well, which was unfortunately the most unpopular starter till date. But Fennekin is not to blame; rather, it is its final evolution in Delphox.
Some fans of Pokemon would still stand by Delphox even to this day, but a majority of players didn’t enjoy it. It was Frokie who saved the legacy and name of Generation 6. It was so popular that, due to its popularity, the name of Chespin never got to rise, and it largely fell due to Froakie.
Generation 7: Rowlet, Popplio, and Litten
The following trio is quite interesting, and some fans literally love them and others don’t.. This generation created a rift between Pokemon fans.
This trio is quite casual when it comes to Pokemon starters, where Rowlet looks like an owl, Popplio looks exactly like a seal, and Litten mirrors a cat. We cannot say that these characters were created with a ton of creativity, let alone Rowlet’s bowtie.
Generation 8: Grookey, Sobble, and Scorbunny
This generation 8 has given us the most recent starters that are known to come out of the series of Pokemon games. The trio was a pleasant sight for the fans. They featured immense creativity in their character design.
For each of the starters’ final evolutions, the developers decided to play safe and not give any pokemon a secondary typing. Due to this decision, the opinion changed based on what you asked, but the starter characters themselves from Generation 8 of the Pokemon series were certainly heading in the right direction.
Generation 9: Sprigatito, Quaxly, and Fuecoco
Finally, we have reached out to talk about the final generation of Pokemon and its starter characters. When they were first revealed, many of the fans particularly fell for Sprigatito, which is the grass-type cat pokemon.
Fuecoco is the fire type, and Quaxly is the water type. These two also have fans, certainly. Whichever character you choose, you have got a great character to battle and rely on, travel along with, and chill with.
