Although there is no doubt about where he amassed this staggering net worth, it is believed that he was a business tycoon and that his endeavors were all a success.

Anyway, thanks to his mastermind now the entire Nigeria considers him as their pride as Atiku Abubakar’s net worth is one thing that cannot be earned by just anyone.

Atiku Abubakar’s Early Life

Atiku Ababakar was born on Nov. 25, 1946, to father Garba Abubakar and mother Aisha Kande, in Jada, Adamawa. He was the only child of his parents after the sudden death of his beloved sister Tiku Abubakar.

Atiku Abubakar was named after his late grandfather Atiku Abdulqadir. While growing up, Atiku was kept away from the conventional educational system as his dad was quite strict about it.

He was strongly against Western training and didn’t want his son to follow that path. Eventually, the authorities came to know that Atiku was not open to the existing educational system because of his father, they punished him and locked him in prison for a while.

Later, at the age of 8, Atiku attended the Jada Primary School in Adamawa. Following that, Atiku went to the Adamawa Provincial Secondary School as well.

Although Atiku attempted to complete his studies at the Nigeria Police College in Kaduna, his scores pulled him back. However, he quickly joined as a Tax Officer but then again took a turn back to his studies as he picked up admission to the School of Hygiene.

Atiku Abubakar’s Political Career

Atiku Abubakar has been in the Nigerian political party for decades. Although he used to attend Bamanga Tukur’s election campaign, he was invited to politics by the ex-second in command of the military department Shehu Muza Yar’ Adua.

He let Atiku attend several political meetings. Shortly after, Atiku managed to become the national vice-chairman of the Nigerian People Front.

Back then, Ibrahim Babangida had founded two separate parties- the National Republican Convention, NLC, and the Social Democratic Party, SDP. Following that, Atiku rooted for SDP.

In 1992, Atiku contested the Presidential election under SDP but had a horrible failure. In 2006, he was again listed as a Presidential candidate, but apparently, his name was purposefully removed from it.

Back then, Atiku was tagged as a corrupt person in Nigeria. So he only had a few ones to support.

Finally, Atiku Abubakar became the Vice President of Nigeria in 1999, and very recently, in 2019, he went for a presidential run along with Peter Obi under PDP- People’s Democratic Party.

Atiku Abubakar’s Family of 4 Wives and 28 Children

Atiku has an extra large family comprising four wives and 28 children. According to him, he felt lonely while growing up as a single child, as he had no siblings.

In order to save his children from the loneliness hathe went through in his childhood, he married four women Jennifer, Fatima Abubakar, Princess Ruqayat, and Titi Abubakar, which is also advised in Islam.

Atiku Abubakar has come up with an array of business ideas and has developed a particular portion of Nigeria by offering various jobs to the Nigerians in his companies that have a common name, Priam Group.

They initially planted a multimedia firm named Gotel Communications in Yola and it has already reached a height that even Atiku must have not imagined. In 2002, he went to build a school in Yola, ABTI Academy, but recently, he changed the name to AUN Academy.

Apart from that, Atiku’s unmatched wealth is the result of his earnings from the food chain called Chicken Cottage as well as Adama Beverages.

It was founded in 2007, and it used to distribute products like fruit drinks and natural juice to neighboring countries. Today, the beverage company has branches in Abuja, Kano, and Umuahia.

Atiku Abubakar’s Interest in Agriculture

Atiku Abubakar has literally been through almost every sector including agriculture. He bought 2,500 hectares of land in Yola in 1981 for cotton farming and maize. But that was an utter flop as they failed to bring out the most. Eventually, he had to close it down.

After a couple of years, Atiku learned about the significance of trading and began to import flour, sugar, and rice. Unlike the previous one, this business blossomed and today, Atiku owns one of the largest farms in Nigeria.
